Jesus, enough with the Bush's, the McCain's, the Taft's, and for that matter, the Kennedy's.

Just because you share genetic material with someone who made it in politics doesn't mean you are entitled easy access to the seats of power.

And people wonder why our political system is suffering from electoral sclerosis.

Ms. McCain is given access to the American Public because of her father. Perhaps she may grow into her position, but meanwhile, she is standing in the way of some more deserving spokesperson for young republicans.

but I think Al Gore's daughters are fairly accomplished in their own right - authors, lawyers/journalist, etc. He has talented and intelligent daughters. Unfortunately Chelsea ran off and joined a Hedge fund after Standford I think. But she's still more articulate than Megan McCain.

I actually admire some of the things she is doing with this (like speaking out against Prop 8 and calling the GOP out on their hang ups and hypocrisy regarding sex and politics), but she dropped the ball on Real Time last night. She needs to stick with that instead of the whole "I'm a poor, little blonde Republican, quit picking on me!", thing which just doesn't come off very well and is definitely not effective in making her argument.

That said, she's wasting her time if the GOP continues on in the direction it appears to be going now. She'd probably be a Dem or an Independent or something if it wasn't for the family name..

She's freaking 24 years old with an indoctrination that rivals Catholicism, and she is already speaking out on humane impulses that are against the Rethuglican party.

Give her some time. When she is 44 she just might be a dyed in the wool liberal progressive.

At the very least, you must recognize that she is a realist in certain respects, that realism has come to her based on her personal experience.

Otherwise dumb as a stump. I do tend to agree that she seems as if she may well be on her way Leftward but it's not enough. At 24 she is far too old to sound like a 21st century Valley Girl whose Daddy was a politician so she has to think about important stuff even though it makes her head hurt.
