"George Bush never lost a debate???" Why do I keep hearing this?
If he stood on the stage and didn't poop his pants was that considered a "win".

I have heard this statement at least four times on TV in the past few days. My golden retreiver could beat him in a debate.

Why are we hearing this crap? Is this to try to intimidate Kerry?

1. High expatations for Bush
he "won" the debate against Gore because he didn't drool on the moderator.

2. SHHHHHHH
It's called "raising the bar."

If Bush is forced to meet expectations, what happens? He craters and the media is extremely hard-pressed to call him a winner.

4. it's true
Bush is an incredible debater. There's no way he will do anything less than eviscerate Kerry in a debate.

(It's called raising the bar. Raising expectations. Join in, it's fun!)

13. He is amazing
He sticks to his message no matter how you see it and hammers it hard. The guy is every bit as good as Clinton think about it. With his record we should be talking about a 30 point lead for Kerry but we aren't.

6. Let it rest.
Let's not let Bush play the low expectation game. The reason he's "never lost a debate" is exactly because everybody thought he was going to poop his pants, and he didn't.

7. I think that the trick..
is to lower expectations so low for Dubya that by the time he actually composes a full sentence it will seem as he has "won."

I think that comment is due to the fact that both Ann Richards and Gore did not go after him as they should have in their respective debates.

I think that Kerry is smart by repeating the mantra "Bush has won all his debates." Doing that, Kerry is inflating expectations for Bush and we all know that he can't quite match them, thus leaving Kerry some room to play with him.

10. Bush is superior at debates and very eloquent at times.

A true "man of the people," some would say. If Kerry is able to even form an argument in the face of that man, I would consider it a victory for the democrats. When it comes to debating against George W. Bush, we need to take our victories when we can.

11. Relax. We Actually WANT This Sort of Rhetoric...
...in fact, Kerry is the one who put it out there in the first place. It's the only way to fight the "soft bigotry of low expectations."

Think about it: if Bush is believed to be better at debating, the pressure is off Kerry to win going away. And WHEN Kerry wins going away, and looks Presidential in the process, he'll be in the driver's seat for the final three weeks or so before the election.

If it works for Bush, it can work for Kerry. Personally, I'll get a whole lot of satisfaction from watching Bush/Rove get beat at their own game...

12. Bush* is as close to Churchill as any man alive today.
He is also very close to Abraham Lincoln in his oratory skills. Of course he won every debate he ever entered, he is a Master Debater.

or "they want to make Social Security a government program" or "rarely is the question asked, is our children learning."

When he opens his magic piehole, we'll be.....doomded...

14. Bottom line: He leaves debates in better shape than when he enters
them. That's winning a debate. Al Gore probably would have won in a forensics society competition. Big effing deal.

15. to raise expectations for bu$h
It worked for bu$h when they lowered his debate expectations against Gore to the point that if he showed up at all, he won. This time around since he's the supposed "straight shooter, with confidence in everything he does, who never admits to a mistake". Well you get the picture. The first time he opens his mouth and uses his version of English he loses.

16. Translation: Bush has never done worse than expected
Of course, due to the soft bigotry of low expectations, Bush "wins" a debate simply by showing up and not drooling while on camera.

24. ploys
Bush will do two things in the debate that may help him.

He will laugh when he makes a mistake.
He will answer the question he wanted asked rather than the one that was asked.

If the public is willing to let a presidential candidate get away with this he may win.

25. key concept: WINNING
1. Bush debates a candidate
2. Bush's numbers go up. His opponent's numbers go down

That is what has happened every time Bush has debated. It's called winning. People say that Bush has never lost a debate because he has, in fact, NEVER LOST A DEBATE. No way around it unless one wants to introduce fanciful standards of winning that include losing as a type of "win."

29. Reverse psychology tactic by the left.
We put out the message that Bush is stellar at debate and untouchable. We repeat it. It rallies the right and Bush starts to believe it. He grows arrogant, thinking he's rhetorical Superman. He has the answer to everything and he is eloquent. People love him, even his enemies. Y'know, the delusion tactic.

Comes the debate. Bush fears no evil. And guess what? He's sitting in the seat of Al Gore in 2000, having lost his audience with his overconfidence.

say that George W Bush is the most brilliant debater of this century. He is a monumental 2-0, you don't get a impressive record like that with out being a master debater.

Bush will shine like a beacon on a hill during the debates. He's the greatest debater the world has ever seen. Anything less than total annihilation will signal a bad debating day for Bush, the Master Debater.

Bush has such a command of the English language; and he can really think on his feet.

I hear Kerry is shaking in his shoes because George Bush is a Master
