Honestly, I don't know the answer to that. Apparently Obama and Gates are friends and the story was hot at the time. If a white president was a close friend of a principle in such a hot story he might well have been asked about it. But the reporter showed no sign of knowing that Obama and Gates were friends. So it seems to be an example of his having to speak for all blacks on at least some level. Any minority can tell you about this syndrome. If I had a dollar for everytime I have been asked to speak for all gays I would surely be flusher this summer. Obama handled the question well. I think the nation benefitted. But I still wonder, if this had happened in 2008, would Bush have been asked this question? Would Clinton have been in 1998?

3. Not a chance
and if he was there is no way in hell it would have still been a story today. I love the media blowing such a non-issue out of proportion. Really, who gives a shit what Obama thinks of an arrest in Cambridge, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Federal Government unless it becomes a civil rights case and then it has nothing to do with the Executive Branch.

Patently idiotic, and totally predictable response from the media and pundit moron class in this country.

4. Never.

Good point. The media bringing it up when health care reform was being discussed was an example of the media . . . acting stupidly.

NOT!!!!!!! Talk about racial profiling!

Mr. President since you are black, how do you feel about a black man, (your black professor friend) being harassed by police in their own home?

Was that a trick question?
