This is the first day in weeks where I actually feel good about HC progress.
Am I just out of my mind or did we see a shift today?

1. I felt a little shift today. At first I thought it was gas, but I really think the President won
the day. Has the town hall fever worn off some??

2. Every time I hear Obama talk about it I feel better. But you're right,
I think the angry mobs have been shamed because of the comparison to their forums and Obama's NH and WY forums. I think people are beginning to settle down and listen. Thank God!

5. Yup, yup,yup
If I understand correctly, he co-opted Max Baucus at his townhall today. Talking about Baucus in a way that'll make it pretty hard for him not to go along.

3. They're more fizzle than sizzle

I think that we see the right wing wearing itself out and the pendulum of success swinging our way

Even Beck lost yet another advertiser, Travelocity, and is going on vacation.

4. I drew a parallel with the Terri Schiavo craziness today
Turned out MSNBC had commented on it last night. Just heard someone else on Rachel saying the same thing. So, there may be something there.

We know how well that worked out for the pubbies, don't we?

7. I think this is the opposite of Bush's bullshit Social Security Privatization deal
back then, the more people learned and got actual facts on it....the more they hated it and revolted.

It seems opposite here. People were told by the shock troops and the propagandists that health care reform is evil. Now, as they find out what is really being proposed, the support will coalesce.

Really, this is one big lesson in President Obama harnessing what we all knew in our hearts. The power of the people as a large block of individuals with their own concerns CAN defeat the vocal and rich and powerful minority of business interests that attempt to hobble democracy at every turn.

6. Civility in MONTANA was the catalyst.
It makes the RW mobs from earlier this week look like the fools they are.

I feel good too.

11. Montanans are serious, sincere and decent people. They made the right wing slobs in other parts of
the U.S. look like fools.

8. I think we're doing better.
Remember back in the election campaign, when Sarah Palin first came out, and she did do some firey red-meat speeches - she sounds good when she's using a teleprompter (and the righttards say Obama's dependent on his teleprompter...)

Everybody was panicking, the polls were bumping, partially because of Palin, partially because it was the post-RNC bounce.

Then as time went on, she avoided interviews, then when she finally got interviewed by Katie Couric, it became clear that she was dumber than a box of rocks.

The poll bumps evaporated, Obama rebounded, and McCain ended up in worse shape than before he chose Palin.

The same thing's likely to happen here - the righties came out strong with their astroturf and their BS about euthanizing Grandma and so on, but people are coming to the realization that the right-wingers and the town-hall screamers are full of shit, acting like assholes, and support for real health care reform may vary well rebound.

I said may, not will - the future's not set - we need to keep going out there, educating people, and make sure the truth is out there.

9. I think it's slowly been shifting this week, but the town hall in MT capped it and guaranteed the
shift of momentum into Obama's camp. The MSM memes of fear/anger/outrage were just blown out of the water.

Obama will get this done, and Baucus, now strapped into the passenger's seat, is coming along for the ride whether or not he wants to.

10. Maybe a shift toward media seeing the actual stupidity of what they have been going berserk about.
This morning on ABC, there was a story about the rudeness, violence and uncivil behavior and it centered on threats to President Obama. To me, it looked like they were painting the heart of the protests as an ugly, violent mob reflecting poorly on the republicans.

14. He's doing a town hall meeting in Grand Junction CO tomorrow. Red neck territory.
I'm a tad nervous about it (but I was nervous about MT too.) I worked for Obama in Grand Junction. We walked some very red neck, scary neighborhoods.

I'll breathe easier this time tomorrow if all goes well there too.

25. We did notice that some neighborhoods were great. But we spent one weekend
knocking on doors in a neighborhood that was scary. We were not treated that badly but were insulted occasionally. Mostly people were just rude in getting rid of us.

I would not go back into that neighborhood now.

16. Dude, the primaries are over, Hillary conceded, Obama won the general.
Just kidding =)

Yea, Pres. Obama is taking the fight to the people. No one can accuse him of not exercising all the leadership powers at his disposal. We need to remember that Barack Obama has yet to lose a fight. If his political track record is of any measure, we will see this get done.

21. Canadian: Living vicariously through all of you so i feel all the ups/downs
its a rollercoaster and i get pissed some days and happy the next and yet this has absolutely no impact on me or my family since i am lucky enough to have single-payer healthcare. Not sure why but i guess its just the plain empathy an average democrat-equivalent living in Canada would have for another human being.

Public Option i feel is the best course for America right now since single-payer is too much of a leap that will be shot down to quick. Public Option lays the foundation for true healthcare reform which when you loko at things, assuming it is a strong public option, is a great stepping stone and i am 100% behind it.

watched the town hall on C-Span and the callers after sounded rational. When Obama is in charge of the message the tone improves, even from those who are against it.
