Regarding Chess, Checkers and the Public Option
I wonder if anyone in the administration is smart enough to figure that if they send someone out on Sunday to imply that the public option is a fading possibility that the left will get riled enough enough to make the kind of noise that the right has been generating at the town halls and "make" them include a strong Public Option.

If so, it would allow them to point to the outcry and pressure and say "See, we had to do it."

Of course it doesn't really matter, because I am hopeful that we can make a loud enough fuss to make our representatives include a public option whether this was a chess move or not. And if it's in the bill, it's not like we need to worry about a veto or something.

I was just wondering, is all.

1. That would seem more possible if Rahm hasn't been trying to shut up the left...
...who have paid for movon.org ads.

5. Exactly
They've pretty much been ignoring the left since the election. They didn't care what we thought of their weak compromise called "the public option" before, I doubt if they care now.

2. There was a thread yesterday about the possibility of this tactic. It definitely could be
an intentional move, but at the same time, it's risky.

I'd love to know how it all unfolded.

4. The rope-a-dope strategy? Yes, I've heard this theory just today.
If that is the case, I hope he knows what he's doing because it could very well backfire.

It actually makes him appear to be a weak leader who doesn't have any control over this own cabinet members and what they say.
