Orrin Hatch
Glancing quickly at the board, I don't see any mention of Orrin Hatch..I thought he was poignant and funny - he was very very good.

9. Unfortunate that he sees dignity and grace then has to
go fight for rabid corporate shills. He will not be convinced he is wrong.

2. I thought he did great despite being a little nervous in enemy territory
Teddy would have been happy to hear him.

7. Thanks for that
It's a really long thread, the the subject titles seem favorable. Just looking at this board I couldn't understand why no one had commented on it yet.

Thank you....

12. Orrin Hatch led the Senate initiative to...
...finally take steps in ending the Widow Penalty, a provision in immigration law that allows foreign national widows/widowers to be deported if their U.S. spouse dies before the final, so-called green card interview. I never understood why this came from him, but I'm thankful for it.

You can read about it http://upload.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3962192">here.

8. From his heart to his "liberal friend"...
I wrote in another thread about his poem...

There is no greater honor than when someone takes the time to write a poem, compose a song, make a dance, paint a picture, etc. about their friend.

Orrin Hatch's comments and poem were very moving... especially because he acknowledged who Ted Kennedy was... an opponent, a liberal, but above all, a friend.

14. I did too. But the guy who had me laughing at loud, hard, was
the former Senator from Iowa. Chris Matthews called him Bob Newhart-like in his delivery, and I would agree.

Joe Kennedy's sailing story was also very funny.

16.  I loved his presentation last night.
After it was over I vowed never to personally attack him again. A vow that in the clear light of day, I know I will not be able to keep. That admitted, he was gracious, sincere and likable I commend him for it. I also liked how he spoke of Vicki and Eunice. It was from the heart.
