Thousands on the streets of DC, 500-600 on the steps of
the Capital waiting for Senator Kennedy.

On MSNBC now. An amazing sight.

1. There must be something to that Karma thing.
He did so much for those who needed a voice and now voices are rising to pay respect and thank a great man.

I tried it but I don't see a link to Ted Kennedy's procession. I'll just read what you all are expressing.:)

9. It's a beautiful sight to see. I do wish that CNN would stop referring to ALL of the people
on the other side of the street (non-staffers) as tourists. I highly doubt ALL of those people are simply tourists, maybe some but definitely not all.

:banghead: for corporate media always trying to diminish a special non-Republican moment.

11. That's annoying. At least MSNBC didn't do that, they just said
'spontaneous crowds'.

12. I really want to thank ALL of my Republican friends today. Not one
of them has sent me a "glad he is dead" email, which I really expected to get. I think even they know a great man has passed.

16. If you had a Republican "friend" who would send you such a message, let me
Edited on Sat Aug-29-09 05:02 PM by robo50
tell you... that person would NOT be a friend.

C-Span is doing such a good job of documentary sound and picture journalism, without talking heads talking over the event...

Republicans, and talking heads on TV....on a day like to today, (like young children), better seen and not heard.

26. I didn't see it,
but I'm glad he was there. I wish people would quit dredging up the whole Klan thing when it comes to Byrd. How many times has he renounced that? I've lost count. Not to mention that most Dems in the South have belonged to the Klan at some point. The ones that didn't became Rethugs.

22. The end was so moving - spontaneous singing from the crowds
and all the shouts of "We love you" and "Thank You".

People are on the street all along the route to Arlington.

23. That was incredible. The soft sound of the singing was
Edited on Sat Aug-29-09 06:07 PM by Phx_Dem
absolutely gut-wrenching. I wonder if that was mostly coming from his staff -- it didn't seem loud enough to be the entire crowd. It was so beautiful.

I have fallen completely in love with Vicki Kennedy. She is the most gracious and warm woman I have seen in a very long time. She is so genuine; it's easy to see why Ted so was crazy about her.

Edited: The more I see of Vicki, the more I would love to see her fill Ted's seat temporarily, until a special election can be held in January. Who better to carry on for Senator Kennedy on a temporary basis. She knows and, obviously, loves his staff and they her. Okay, so I guess that's it then. She's the one. (lol)

24. MSNBC said it was coming from the non-staffers across
the street. Maybe that's why it sounded so soft, it was away from microphones. It was hauntingly beautiful - I got chills when it started.
