Ayotte, testing political waters, wants neutral legacy
http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Ayotte%2C+testing+political+waters%2C+wants+neutral+legacy&articleId=ba6a7763-e812-450f-9d45-a33b952d17cb

Kelly Ayotte takes a strong conservative Republican position on most of the issues of the day, opposing government bailouts and increased government involvement in health care, opposing more or higher taxes and supporting tort reform and the right to bear arms.

Yet, the former Attorney General, who was appointed by a Republican and re-appointed twice by a Democrat, is concerned about retrospectively "politicizing" her tenure in that position. For that reason, she would not say in an interview who she voted for in the past two elections for New Hampshire's governor.

The 41-year-old Nashua native and resident has been under a media and political microscope since stepping down from her state post in July and announcing that she would look closely at a 2010 U.S. Senate run.
