after thought when it comes to the powers that be in Washington, on Wall Street and over at 30 Rock.

They don't fear us because they control the media, the message and the means to soundly trounce the hopes and dreams of everyday people, the 3M's.

Over 65% of the public wants a Public Option but it is deemed risky and far too costly by the 3M's so we ain't gonna get it...

We are in a war in Afghanistan that is losing the support of the masses and yet there is little serious talk about withdrawal because the 3M's haven't been rewarded with enough taxpayer money and access to foreign resources so it ain't gonna end...

We all are worried about the infrastructure in this country, we see bridges collapsing and sewer systems imploding and yet the 3M's still don't believe it is in their best interests to fix the problem. It could be because most of the contracting is done by Union Workers, it could be that the lucky few who are in that 3M class feel the collapse would not hurt them so we ain't gonna get it...

Environmental degradation is a concern of almost any American with a brain and yet nothing is deemed critical yet by the 3M's so we ain't gonna get it...

The dream of a middle class life is still dangled in front of everyones face, the good old Horatio Alger myth is still alive and yet the chance of our children even just maintaining our standard of living when they come of age is fading fast. The gap between the rich and the rest of us is at the highest gap since King Richard went to war in the Crusades and yet the 3M's think this is acceptable so economic growth for all classes is a pipe dream, we ain't gonna get it...

I'm just a pissed off old man now, disgusted with how venal our country and our culture has become.

Never mind me. No one else outside of a small circle of Friends seems to even care anymore.

1. And because the proletariat won't do anything but complain, maybe send an email and accept it.....
Americans like the call the French effete, but when French citizens are POed they get out into the streets, go on massive strikes and shut the country down.
Over here we say that sucks, mope, gripe, and go back to our iPods.

4. Distraction and the dumbing down of America have really hurt us...
But they sure do know how to protest in Europe!

3. They've controlled the media for decades yet they let Michael Moore run around?
If "they" controlled the media, do you think Moore would still be allowed to run around with his take on the issues?

And if "yes", then ask "why".

6. Has anything really changes with Moore running around...
Just more pissed off people who feel as if they are doing something by heading off to the art house and watching Moore's latest screed.

They let him go one and on because he is essentially the court jester, keeping us amused and feeling engaged.

7. astute observation
as long as I am alive I will fight for what is right... however difficult and I do admit I get frustrated and so very angry at ignorant people that put up road blocks.

9. I've been banging my head against the wall since I marched in an Environmental
protest back in 1970 when I was 12 so yea, I'm getting good and frustrated.

I tried from the inside for almost 20 years and all I saw was people enamored with their own greatness and would rarely, if ever, take a step away from the mainstream.

11. That is the exception--a myth really--rather than the rule.
The past 15 years proves for certain that the corporate media favors those whose philosophy helps their bottom line. The message they favor is that the market is always right even when it's wrong for America.

12. yep. as much money as moore, olbermann, maddow, schultz, rhodes and others make for their ceos...

...you don't see anywhere near the number of shows they get compared to the wingnuts.

it's like the corporate media only allows a limited number of progressive voices, no mattter how much money they can generate.

13. I'm likewise ...
... a pissed-off old man, and similarly disgusted. And I agree with you completely.

I'm old and tired. And bitter. I was laid off in 2006, and have no hope of another full-time job. I can't even get hired to stock the shelves at night at the local grocery store. My wife died in her sleep, right next to me, a little over a year ago. The insurance company refuses to pay benefits for her death. I have no health insurance, and the cost of my meds is prohibitive. Consequently, in a few months, when they run out, I'll just be sitting around waiting either for the inevitable heart attack, or to be evicted, whichever comes first.

I barely have the strength to get through a day, let alone marching in the streets.

So I applaud those of you that can. Best of luck to you all.
