With their Olympics gloating, the Republicans just lost Indiana in the 2012 and 2016 elections
At least that's the way I see it. Now the Democrats can go to Indiana during the 2012 campaign and remind them about how the Republicans were rooting against middle America. The population living in Indiana within the Chicago media market will be hearing about how Republicans were rooting against bringing economic prosperity and jobs to their region. And without Indiana, that 270 mark becomes awfully difficult for the Republicans to reach. When 2016 rolls around, Americans will be watching the Olympics in the middle of a presidential campaign and Indiana will be reminded again about how the Republicans gleefully rooted against them. :patriot:

13. Except most of Lake county is as Democratic as the state is Republican
It would have been great for that area - and they need it.

2. In Republican Cartoon Fantasy Land Chicago is not middle America
You see, Chicago doesn't "count" because it's a big city next to Lake Michigan, which really makes it like LA, SF and NYC.

I agree with you about Indiana, unless they put up Mitch Daniels. Then Indiana is likely a loss.

3. Mitch Daniels...I thought he helped turn this country's surplus into a deficit
if my memory serves me correctly. Nothing stains your resume worse than having "Bush economic advisor" on it.

7. Larry Bird has a better chance of winning.;..
Mitch has no shot. He can't win NW Indiana, will struggle in Naptown, forget Bloomington, South Bend, Elkhart, and Lafayette. What's left isn't enough after the Toll Road fiasco. Tony Stewart (D?-Columbus) would get votes than him right now.

4. Yes, that's why PO went to Copenhagen..to get jobs
for Chicago and that area of the world that would be affected by the Olympics coming in 2016..it was never about him.

The goppies were rooting against Americans getting jobs.

8. Chicago is "urban"
i.e. African-Americans live there, not real Americans

9. Nah...American voters have a short memory
The GOP is very good at distracting people and convincing them to vote based on emotion and fear, and the Democrats aren't always the best in motivating people to vote in their best interest.

12. You are assuming that Indianians (?) were universally for having the
Olympics in Chicago. It would be wiser, imo, to focus on the fact that the previous president and those that supported his every whim, made our country as a whole unpalatable to the rest of the world. . . his taking of freedoms, his militarizing airports and entryways, his "us" "them" attitude and all the related crap.

If I didn't live here, I sure wouldn't want to come here. Even though the Olympics are 6 years off and we hope Obama will get things changed around, the decision making was now, and based on where we are currently at, I don't think it was a good idea for the Olympics to be held on US soil, I would've voted for anywhere but here.

16. Don't get caught up in facts. The message isn't about the Olympics
but rather cheering for America to fail and against the prosperity of hardworking Americans.

This is about an appeal to emotion not the head. The trick is to take the head utterly out of the loop and make it "Why do they hate America and American workers?".

15. If used properly the stupid teabaggers and cheering against America
can be used to great effect all over the place. Short memories are a fact but reminders work pretty good if you are willing to use them. The Republicans ran against Hanoi Jane, the 68 DNC, and Viet Nam protesters with some real traction for 30+ years.

Their recent behavior can and and should be used as visual stimulation for short memories.

BTW, Daniels has his own "Katrina" moment that should hammer him because he refused to declare a disaster when part of his state was frozen under a sheet of ice just this past winter. I think the imagery could be compelling, especially if he tries to go national.
