7. Tweety did
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 06:39 PM by Sebastian Doyle
quoting some poll or another. Didn't catch which one.

But if the Democrats choke on Health care, it's more than likely going to happen. And if there isn't any REAL economic recovery by then (not Wall $treet, but the real world) it's also likely to happen, deservedly or not.

EDIT: apparently it was an AP poll, for what that's worth (which probably isn't much)

15. The Senate falling to Republicans is almost mathematically impossible
They would need a net gain of 11.

6. I see it happening to, because americans expect democrats to fix shit overnight, while they give
republicans years to fuck the country up.

8. With only 28% of the people identifying with GOPers, it ain't gonna happen.
It just isn't.

Reminds me of Maddow who kept predicting McAnus would win the GE.

Prognosticators make me sick. :puke:

9. The GOP has driven all but a few moderates out their party
I see no indication they're going to run anyone moderate enough to win blue seats they might win some marginal red leaning seats back.

14. Tweety was in my town (Lancaster, PA) last night to give a speech. From the morning paper:
http://articles.lancasteronline.com/local/4/243146

"...As for bipartisanship, Matthews said Obama deals with the Republicans' attempts to derail his policies and criticize his leadership by ignoring the GOP leaders. Instead, the administration often points out the rantings of talk show conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

"Take (GOP Minority Leader) John Boehner, who looks like he just came from the tannery. (Obama) never mentions their names," Matthews said. "But the Barack Obama crowd loves the birthers, Palin and Limbaugh."

On the sharp division in Congress, Matthews said, "Bob Dole said today he thinks the Republican Party is out to defeat Barack Obama, period. There's no issue here. They just want to beat him."

Asked about health care and the much-debated public option, Matthews said Obama needs to decide where he is going to make his fight and take a firm stand. "All that said, Barack's doing a pretty good job," Matthews said. "He has united the Democratic Party like it's never been united. And the world loves the United States right now. A new poll released Tuesday shows U.S. is number one in the eyes of the world. We haven't been there in a long time."
