Since 9/11 there has been a progressive parahiazation of the religion in this nation. Actually it's been around for decades, but became more prevalent post 9/11. When that Korean American kid went nuts in Connecticut or Pennsylvania (I think)--- Koreans and Korean Americans got a lot of hate.
Every military in the world exists for one purpose only -- to kill people and destroy things. You don't join as some sort of social occasion or "pay your loan off." If they robbed people to "have their college paid for" would that be ok too?
24. While I fully support pulling out of all war endeavors and not engaging in more,if you take the risk
...of joining the military then you are responsible for dealing with the duties that come with making that commitment. And although I'm not a soldier myself, I know many soldiers who definately agree with my sentiment.
18. Signing up is strictly voluntary...my own dentist joined US miltary
and he is stationed in Germany but he knows he could be sent to Iraq or anywhere. If this guy is smart enough to be a doctor, I am sure he is smart enough to know what you are getting into when you sign up with US Military.
21. My point was that he may not have understood what WAR is like
until he got into it. Very few of us can even begin to imagine the horror that soldiers go through in most wars and in this one we get the added benefit of torture. Plus it seems never ending and for what? Those are the things he may not have understood.
That we never really know why a stranger decides to join the armed forces. Either way it does not take away from the fact that the government has used and abused many of these people. We all know that they are sending them back to Iraq and Afghanistan time and time again. Whatever the reason for joining they do not deserve that.
