there has always been a weird synergy between *'s poll ratings and the price of oil/gas.

Bush has already tapped the strategic reserve, but will it be enough???

Stay tuned...

1. will it be enough?
Might bring the prices down a penny or two

However, as we have been told by the powers-that-be -- the problem is not the supply of oil - it's the lack of refineries

so we can flood the market with oil, but if we can't convert it into useable fuel -- not going to do much good

On the otherhand -- will bush* be able to convince his oil buddies to forgo price-gouging-for-profit for a few weeks.....just until the election is over?

Meanwhile -- watch for the band to strike up the tune "Drillin' fer oil in Alaska"

6. I do not think the price is high enough yet.
Well I can still buy it and that is some thing. Also look at it this way. In the 70's it got to $40 so that would mean it must be a lot higher than $50 in 2000's. Course cars take more gas to run now or I guess I mean all the trucks and vans type things. Odd to even say that. Don't we ever learn anything?

2. If the oil companies have to take a hit in profits
for 2 weeks prior to the election, it's just an investment for them. 2 weeks of low prices and then 4 years of price gouging.

4. no
Gasoline prices will fall to their lowest in many years the week before the election. Not a prediction - a fact.

The Saudis have already made a formal agreement with Bush to drastically increase oil exports right before the election. It's a done deal. The barrels are probably already on the ships ready to go. Check Google News.

OPEC is setting the foundation for the massive price drop as we speak. Currently oil is $50.00+ per barrel and gas prices inching toward $2.00 a gallon. The reason OPEC is cutting back on production now is so that prices go as high as they can, and then it looks better for Bush when they fall rapidly right before the election. The week or two before the election prices will fall rapidly to their lowest levels in years. So, Bush will be able to capitalize on the "momentum" and claim that the economy is "booming."

Bu$h is the best friend $audi Arabia and the oil companies ever had. They will gladly slash prices for a week or two in return for four more year$ of price gouging.

5. the increased oil the Saudis are exporting is shit ....
its not the "light, sweet" stuff, but the crap high in sulfur that's a bitch to refine (which is why the increase isn't helping lower the price) ... this is why Russia (which has a shitload of oil) can't replace OPEC because they're oil has loads of sulfur too

8. Is that what makes oil sweet crude and Brent.?
It always sells at different prices or is Brent just from un- OPEC countries? I know they say Alaska has high sulfur but it really is not so high if you look at the rest of the world.I would think that no new refinery were build because they just added to the old ones and never asked t build them. Which I would say because the oil companies know they will not need new ones.
