Memo to GOP
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 09:33 PM by dave29
Do you see whats going on over here at DU? How we are dissecting all of our candidates, attacking them from every angle, putting them all through hell, knocking them off their stride, tearing them to bits, slapping them all over the place? Well, here's the thing.

We're practicing.

We'll be coming for you, and your "champion" soon.

And try as you might to lower expectations of George "Mission Accomplished" Bush, - we won't accept "the soft bigotry of low epectations". This President has one of the worst records of any in the History of the United States. And we are not going to let him run from that. Not even a little bit.

We want some proof of some uniting - Osama bin Laden did a better job of Uniting us than Bush ever did. We have seen thousands of our citizens slaughtered because of a fundamental failure in our Government's ability to decipher intelligence. The buck stops with Bush, and it's about damned time we had some accountability.

Speaking of accountants, you are the party of Enronomics, the very model of the Bush Presidency. The first CEO President. And you've played your part well. You are trying to make the balance sheet look good with creative marketing and gimmicky PR moves... well, we all know what happens in Enronomics. It sounds real nice, but the little guy gets screwed in the end when it all collapses around you.

You said "they have not led, we will". And sure enough you have led us... into:

1) highest defecits ever
2) animosity around the world
3) higest unemployment in years

And we're still not safe.

We could discuss your record on the Environment. Education. Healthcare.

We cald talk frankly about your lack of access to the media, and scripted press conferences. Why are you so afraid to be a straight shooter, Mr. Bush?

We could discuss the Pretzel incident and infer that it's a cover-up for your wife hitting you. Just for fun.

We could do all sorts of things, because, I have to tell you, George W. Bush, you really just suck at being President - and I'm quite ready to have someone outside the oil industry (or major league baseball management) speaking on behalf of all Americans.

We need a real uniter, not a partisan ideologue.
We need some real compassion, not some marketing slogans.
We're going to reform, reframe, and engage in the debate - and we're going to win.

See ya soon! :hi:

P.S. More to come

3. Hot damn! Great post & so true!!!
Conservative bloggers, etc who think we are tearing down each other need to know that this kind of infighting is just what we do- we are comming for the GOP and we will hit every (and there are many) soft spot...

Enjoy the show while you can- it will all be about Bush's record soon enough...

5. Exactly
Just as long as the infighting doesn't inhibit us from uniting after the primaries. Remember FR back in 2000? There was infighting there amongst *, McCain, and Buchanan supporters.

4. I wish I could be that optimistic...
...that what we're doing here on DU matters. I have this gnawing sense that our primary process is being hijacked by the DLC and we're going to nominate someone who doesn't represent Democratic principles.

In the time I've been (mostly lurking) here, I seen the for myself that what the people do here makes a difference. Just look at Bev Harris and her group of DU'ers and their heroric efforts to expose the electronic voter fraud industry. This issue is mainstream now and it is making a difference. Mr. Will Pitt whos' ideas and eloquence in expressing them, has gotten him national recognition. Rush LimpBalls himself quotes this website often on his media talkshow.

The difference it makes for me personaly, is that it gives me the information and resources I need to educate myself and enables me to convince others of the horrible mess this cabal has gotten our country in. Just today a right winger that I work with (and agreed not to discuss politics with after a few heated discussions) came to me to talk. This tells me he's thinking, he's waking up. It tells me I'm making a difference.

These people who share information and ideas, these people who disagree, these people here who even sometimes offend, all make a difference.

edit: it wont let me run spell check on edit

9. Don't take it the wrong way
I didn't mean DU doesn't matter- I wouldn't say that at all. But someone seemed to suggest that what we're doing here reflects whats going on in the Dem primary at large, and I don't know about that. I don't know if it's the base calling the shots or the establishment manipulating the base behind the scenes.

11. Ain't practicing
This is sharing differences of opinions, its like shooting fish in a barrel with bush supporters... they try for a minute or two but then end up calling you names or insult Clinton.

12. Fuckin' Ay, Bubba
I've gained a respect for the Deanies and for all the other good, battle-tested Dems, a taste for blood and an overwhelming, finely-honed urge to stick my size 9 Democratic brogan firmly in Dopey's ass. I know I'm not alone. I know I'm not nearly alone.
I consider all this current politicking just our pre-season warmup. I'm a Clarkie, but I think just about any of our Dem candidates can and will whip The Worst President Ever come November.
I say enough talk. Let's start kicking some neocon ass.
Who's with me?
John
ABB -- now more than ever.
