Corporate McMedia: All Dean Attacks, All The Time.
Dean received a major endorsement from Harkin yesterday. Dean has Bush so scared that Bush is already attacking him directly, and Dean already has Republican hate groups running ads against him.

Dean received endorsements from both Al Gore and Bill Bradley. Dean set the Democratic fundraising record with a 15.5 million dollar quarter. Dean leads the latest polls in Iowa, New Hampshire and even in South Carolina.

Dean has, by far, the largest group of volunteers in Iowa and the best organization in New Hampshire.

However, the corporate media is pitching a complete game shut out when it comes to publishing good news about Howard Dean. Other than reluctantly reporting the Harkin endorsement -- in the context of "stopping the bleeding" caused by Dean's supposed "gaffes" and Clark's supposed newfound strength -- I challenge anyone here to produce a single positive article about Howard Dean published in the corporate media today.

1. Is this a "Waaaahhh! They're pickin' on me?" post?
I can tell from your post that any alleged pickin'-on-me by the media has not had any effect on Dean's front runner status. So why the blues? Bad news is better than no news, and Dean knows it.

Consider the other candidates, whose names went virtually unmentioned for most of the year, and consequently, hurt their name recognition factor with the public. Now THAT's something to cry about. But you didn't hear them whine about it. Hey, it happens.

2. The media: Build a candidate up, create high hopes... then rip him down
I hate to tell ya but it will only get worse. Once the media turns on a candidate - it will only get worse.....

Today's media darling - tomorrow's goat.

4. Don't believe the hype
They want to destroy any Democrat, and they will try their best. They will stop at nothing to retain their power - nothing.

11. you're absolutely right, angryamish
the best hope we have is that they get overconfident...

but even if the Dems ran the most conservative dem possible, the GOP would pull the same trash. Remember McCain?

Dean seems like he's the guy to deal with this. And this trashing is good to be happening now, it's a good test of how he'll deal with the real Bush trashings.

5. I'll meet that challenge.
It was in my local paper this morning. They don't post today's news to the site for another 30 minutes, at which time I'll be gone. So it's not on the site yet, but will be. Here ya go:

6. The NYTimes Has Been Kissing His Ass
for the most part... even if they cover stories about Dean's past they usually put favorable quotes from his supporters .

They have come out calling for him to release his records...

8. The Washington Post had cover stories on Dean every day this week.
As part of it's continuing coverage of the 2004 campaign. Then shorter stories inside on the other candidates if they made "news". Pretty blatant stuff.

"The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about" I agree with that for the most part, unless they compare you to Osama bin Laden.

9. You are correct. Dem. bashing (front-runner now) is well organized.
Notice everything has a negative angle to it when discussing Dems., especially headlines on Newsmagazines (Time, Newsweek)
"Too many candidates", "party disorganized", "Dean having troubles", "Doubts about Dean", "Who is the Real Howard Dean",etc.
If Clark or Kerry or any other were ahead in polls they would get the same treatment. We are going to win door-to-door, on the Net, and by old fashioned ground work. The media is in with Rove, but he can't b.s. everyone. I really believe if they go hard negative,it will backfire. I keep looking at what happened in PA when rPIGS had the media and used dirt. People flat out rejected it.

10. Yep. Another thing that's struck me as weird
There seems to be this almost constant flow of Dean (and, Clark, too actually) quotes-from-the-past. We know that ALL the other candidates have said stoopid and/or controversial things in the past. They wouldn't be bloody human otherwise. Yet, the only ones that are ever dusted off and micro-parsed are the ones made by Dean and Clark. Seen a good quote from the media from Dick Gephardt regarding the Defense of Marriage Act that he voted for? Kerry has had to explain his Iraq war vote but that's about it - what did he say about No Child Left Behind before he voted for it? Anyone quoted Joe Lieberman's remarks trashing Clinton?

It ain't 100% but it sure looks to me like the "outsiders" sure come into a helluva lot more scrutiny from the media over everything from offhand jokes, to stuff they said years ago in different times and different situations.

That's one reason why the animosity on this board between Dean & Clark supporters puzzles me no end. They are BOTH getting this treatment from the media. And instead of swinging at each other BOTH groups should see what is happening.

12. Bush quotes from past
that's what I hope dems are researching right now.

They need to flood the airwaves with those stoopid quotes and lies , really serious lies, from Bush and his lackeys.

Dems need to go on the offensive, and fight back vigorously.

13. Gee...why did they wait so long to examine Dean closer? They gave him a
press plane last June, supposedly to give him a closer look, yet all this stuff is coming out only NOW?

Couldn't be they waited till they were comfortable he'd be the nominee and THEN let the public know more about his problem areas? A little added chaos for the Dem voters?

15. It is really very simple
A blow out primary season leaves them little new to get ratings. A close race is more interesting to report on.

Second to this is the need to create a fear response in the Dems. The right-wing likes us timid. "Do this and we will beat you", "propose that and we will beat you", "nominate this candidate and we will beat you", "run as anything other than republican lite and we will beat you", "we are the big powerful party, oppose us and we will beat you", "Be afraid of us, take no risks, pipe down and stay in you place".

The thing that scares the corporatist republican elite most is the notion that ordinary people may begin to actually believe that they could have a say in how the country is run. This is why they keep us divided on bogus issues like abortion, god, guns, and gays. As long as we are fighting amongst ourselves, we are no threat to their power. They are working very hard to create this doubt and infighting again.

17. Welcome to the world of Media influence
They bult Dean up too much early, thus they now believe they won't get a horserace so Dean is getting his fair share of abuse, to quote the stones.

But do not fear, stickdog, once Clark gets a little closer Dean will once again be their hero since they must also validate their chearleading of Chimp by helping him achieve a mandate.
