Spoiled rich frat boys were busy last night stealing Kerry signs
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 12:53 PM by Generic Other
Some fascist brownshirt drunken sonsofbitchin' spoiled rich college frat boys from UPS were busy little rodents last night. They may rule the night, but I wake up with the dawn and do my work in broad daylight.

My original Kerry sign was up for two weeks. This one has been up for two hours. 10 cars pass by a minute, plus numerous pedestrians. This is a busy street right smack in the middle of town.

I can make more signs than those fuckers can take down in the next month Mr. GO and I are NOT going to back down.

I live at the end of a county road, a mile from the highway, so can't put out signs. I do have them plastered all over my car-on the inside-and so far no one has messed with them.

I live at the end of a deadend street, so I haven't bothered with a sign in my yard, but I have one in the window of my car, along with my Kerry sticker, and I wear my Kerry shirt and baseball cap all over town.

6. That's beautiful!
An absolutely perfect response to those idiots.

I almost wish my townhouse complex would allow signs in the yard, as it is my signs are in the upstairs window. Kerry support is about 90% here, so I probably don't have to worry about rocks. There are about 40 instances of Kerry signs/stickers in my complex, and zero for Bush. "They" say Colorado is a red state. ;)

A woman in the co-op Sat. asked me what Kerry, "flip flopped" on and I said nothing..he's views have evolved over time and the repubs are trying to smear him again because they have no record to stand on..she told me that she was at the farmer's market with her daugther and a woman said that her daughter had on "Kerry shoes"!
I was pissed!

111. Or how about
mentioning something with the word "Christian" in it since Bush is a born-again. You can say something like: "Christian's don't steal, even if they're signs" In someway if you think about it they are taking your money. :eyes: Cause you pay for the sign and then they steal it. It's still considered theft since it's on your property.

Slick 50 or Duralube are very slippery and very messy. Some sort of engine oil could work too.

A cheaper option would be Crisco.

Are there any substances that leave a permanent dye on skin?

It's used to trap nuisance birds. As a wildlife rehabber, I've dealt with the stuff, and hate it, but it might serve a useful purpose here. Perhaps selectively applied to areas that frat boys are likely to contact but birds aren't.:)

You get it at arts and crafts shops, and it's used to glue felt of fabric on plywood or pressboard. Home Depot or Lowes might also carry it. It's pretty transparent going on, but it's a mess if you stick your hand in it.

81. So a kid's dad can afford to pay for higher education. Big
deal. Why worry about what they spend their money on? And if the kids are blowing their opportunity for an education by getting drunk a lot, big deal again. The kid will probably end up serving fries to you at McDonald's. His loss.

Either way it was always my experience that the fraternity men were much less spoiled than the football, basketball and baseball players. And the fraternity men give back MUCH more to my college than the aforementioned athletes will ever dream of giving back.

101. I went to a private liberal arts college.
I worked my ass off to get the grades to get in there, I worked my ass of to keep my grades up while I was there, and a worked my ass off every summer to pay for my Fraternity dues. I chose the route I wanted to take and nothing was going to get in my way. Just because somebody goes to a private school doesn't make them spoiled and rich. One of my best friends came from one of the poorest counties in the state. But he must have been rich and spoiled because he went to a private college, because, as you have pointed out, all stereotypes are true.

and football players that I went to school with and interacted with on a daily basis? I'm merely providing an example from my school. It is not a blanket indictment of every collegiate athlete. Did you miss the words "it was my experience"?

Fraternities get shit on because everybody still has the Animal House perception of the Greek system. Nobody pays attention to the fact that, well let's use my experiences again, we hold a golf scramble for Big Brothers/Big Sisters or participate in Adopt-A-Highway or helped the school grounds crew shovel the football stadium after a snowstorm so it would be ready for the national championship game. But that is all negated because we like to drink beer.

75. Sounds like it's time to
build a mini-billboard out of some 2x4s. They can't take it down w/o
deconstructing it -- and SOMEBODY in the neighborhood is going to see or hear that if it happens. I'd also paint the billboard with vaseline or something else to make it super-slick.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

some kind of noise maker to wake the dead. You neighbors might not like it but so what - they ought to be glad that a thief has been caught. I also suggest the slogan "Only bush christians steal signs"

These yahoos may have worked for UPS, but don't denigrate the entire company for the actions of a couple of buttholes.

* ON EDIT* GOD! I'm an idiot. Sorry people. Wasn't thinking. Cheneyed up on this one. Puget Sound. Duh...

55. Registered because of this thread.
We've seen plenty of sign theft in Knoxville, all of it Kerry signs. When I saw this thread, I had to register to share my wife's idea for how we will deal with our neighborhood cowards.

Over the weekend, my sign and that of two neighbors, (three Kerry signs in a row) were taken; the wire holding the signs are all that are left. We will be putting out another sign today, but with a extra treat for anyone who trys to steal it again: Instead of trying to secure the sign with staples, my wife is planning to insert several straight pins around the sign, so that if our thieves return again, they'll get a handful of pinpricks for their effort.

Welcome to DU KtownTennessedem. :hi:

I stayed in Lebanon, Tenn once when I was a kid with people who ran the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Drive-In. They had roller skating waitresses and an electric fence out back for the hunting dogs. That fence could have kept my sign safe!

84. Just had to say Hello!
I reside West of Knoxville, and I wanted to say Hello, and to ask, don't you think there appears to be much more outward support for Senator Kerry than there was for Vice-President Gore? I just don't recall seeing many Gore signs or bumper stickers during the last election cycle. I have been amazed at the places I have seen Kerry signs.

89. I've noticed the same thing!
I'm on the same side of town, and still can't get over how many Kerry signs are out there. Seems to be running no worse than 50-50 this election. And I've also noticed that the Kerry signs have been out much longer than BC04--seems to me us outnumbered dems are more energized than the repubs. Who knows, we just might not as outnumbered as we usually seem to be! :-)

57. Some things you can do
1) Grease the posts from your signs with WD-40

2) Lay a nice bed of fresh dog shit (or cat shit) around the signs.

When they come THIS time, they will get quite a surprise!

80. The Most Popular Sign In My Neighborhood...For Sale
Two of my neighbors have Bunnypants signs on their lawns...the only two that I see in my daily drive through "the hood". On faces down my cul-de-sac rather than facing down the main street it fronts (dumb, dumb, dumb).

Last week one sign down on the lawn and the others were leaning and looks like one had been kicked. I asked my son if this was handiwork, and he said no, but he had a real good idea of who it was...kids from Repugnican families who know if this regime is re-elected, they're gonna be drafted.

Late last week, the signs went back up, but today, I noticed one was down again. Oh well.

Kudos go to my village, where the local patronage park district goons usually spray Repugnican campaign signs all over the place on public property, but thanks to several of our calls and a non-partisan board of elections, those signs get taken down as quickly as they pop up.

The leading yard sign in my neighborhood is more telling than any Kerry or Bunnypants sign..."For Sale"...lots of outsorced jobs in this area.

Dab a little Dave's Insanity Sauce around the edges of your signs. At some point they'll rub their eyes - I've done this accidently before; and I tell you, it's about 5-10 minutes of pure hell.

That was not a very nice phone message, Mr. GO. Bad. Bad.

I realized this morning I lost a Kerry sign and its partner: Support Our Troops: Vote Bush OUT!. I am heading to the local DNC Headquarters for as many signs as they will give me, and I am going to go door to door to find folks to put them in their yard. I am going to beef up my signs and may light them at night so the assholes will not have it so easy. I live on a major artery here in Stow, Ohio. This means war!!!

104. Have 'em arrested
Here in Virginia, stealing campaign signs is considered destruction of private property. Don't know the law in your area, but I work on political campaigns here and that's exactly what we do. (You might think about having 'em arrested on trespassing charges, too.)

Here's the rub: You have to catch them IN THE ACT of stealing. Take photographs or, better yet, get their license plate numbers and file a report. They'll think twice about doing it again. Having something on your police record doesn't look good if you're trying to get one of those high-paying, high-powered jobs in a Fortune 500 company (or in the U.S. Government) after your college graduation that requires a security clearance.

When Hubby and I lived in Pennsylvania, a fellow Dem was having the same problem, and we advised her to file a complaint just like we do in The Old Dominion. She sat up all night and, sure enough, the little goons showed up to rip off her signs. This lady picked up the phone receiver and dialed the number of the local precinct. Then, she and her husband went outside and LITERALLY grabbed the thieves by the scruff of their necks and waited for the cops to show up.

It works, BELIEVE me. ;)
