Question for N.H. and Iowa residents...
Can you give me a little "flavor" of what it's like there? Is every single television and radio commercial about some candidate? Is your phone ringing off the hook from people pimping various democrats?

I have this vision in my head about how obnoxious it must be right now. Just wondering...

1. Ads
mostly during news and daytime tv (my gf tapes a soap). The calls I don't know about because I'm not on the phone lists. But I've heard everyone is getting two or three calls a day.

2. The worst part
The recorded phone messages of the candidates. Dick Gephardt is the worst at that. Whenever caller id say UPCW I let it go to the machine and it is always a recorded message from Dick.

3. That's why we've changed
At this point there's nothing we can say to change anyone's mind. So I'm just calling to make sure they know where the caucus site is and if we can assist them with rides or anything.

4. lots of phone calls
and at least 5 e-mails a day from the candidates. Most of them, anyhow. Al doesn't call or write.

I don't watch tv - but radio is severe. Jean Shaheen's awful, grating accent was endorsing Kerry every five minutes last week.

The fun stops soon, and NH can go back to being the small, insignificant state that I've learned it is here on DU. :eyes:

7. Your a swing state next election! Congrats!
Sometimes I wish CA would vote Repub so we could have candidate visits that aren't paid entry. Even Dean makes you pay.

6. It's been less obnoxious than I expected this time...
...and I'm on lots of lists.

One or two calls per day from campaigns, I suppose, and more when a candidate or major surrogate will be nearby. Several calls per week from "polls" or "surveys"--very hard (impossible, really) to discern which, if any, are legitimate. We get mail from some campaign everyday, often more than one.

I receive e-mail--by choice--from several campaigns, more than one from each some days, from Dean, Edwards, Gephardt, Kerry, and Kucinich.

Plus plenty of campaign events to attend.

I'm not complaining. I'm one of those Iowans who believes this is worth doing and takes it seriously.
