Brace for the whoring.............................................On DU!
That's right...when it's time to get tough the faux tough run like hell! Instead of bitching because er Edwards Bunted, we should be raining down Hell on the anyone who says we lost. This is when I hate DU the most, after big events like this when things don't go exactly perfect. John Edwards went up against a known liar and crook. Anyone, and I mean anyone can look good if all they do is lie lie lie!

I'm gonna take a couple days away from DU because if I stay and continue to read the bullshit that I am already reading, I may throw my monitor though a window!

1. Relax Trumad. It's not that bad.
Most are saying that at worst Edwards didn't get a slam dunk win. A few pessimists are saying he lost.

I'm in the held his own but no grand slam camp.

Feel free to disagree.

Either way we're no worse for wear.

We definitely don't need to be blowing sunshine up our own asses.

2. Relax
I didn't think Edwards did that great. I thought he had some good moments, but overall I'd probably give a slight edge to Cheney.

So, in the two debates so far, I have it like this:

In the first debate between the two actualy candidates (and the only debate that probably really matter), our guy obliterated their guy.

In the debate between the two seconds, which is the debate that matters least: their guy probably snuck out with a victory.

I can live with that.

4. Just don't read it..I don't...
In fact I like reading posts like yours because they make me feel Good!

I just saw this on another thread..

"Schieffer on CBS ... this was beautiful ...

"the arguments that the vice president was making tonight simply did not take ... the administration is going to have to find another way to explain their policy in Iraq ..."

And Schieffer is the moderator for the 3rd debate, is he not?

5. I'm not seeing that here
Most people, myself included, seem to think Edwards did a really good job. He didn't kill and eat his opponent the way Kerry did with the chimp but then we all know that Cheney is a known cannibal himself and many people don't even believe he's really a human being.

All in all Edwards did very well and I'm happy with his performance. Kerry will run over Alfred E. Newman a few more times and all will be well.

I'm gonna have a beer and write a few letters highlighting the lies and distortions of the Dick.

We will prevail over evil! :smoke:

It was set up earlier today when someone posted..."gee, maybe he was a mistake, JK shoulda picked Graham..."

He held his own.

8. Much of it has to do with expectations.
I think that too many people were expecting Edwards to wipe the floor with Cheney. Many of us, however, knew that this was going to be much tougher than Kerry/Bush I. Cheney was being underestimated, though obviously not by John Edwards.

That being said, I'd call it a draw on substance or slightly leaning Edwards and Edwards for certain on style. Cheney's obstinate behavior could very well turn people off. Edwards looked and sounded intelligent, thoughtful, and informed. I think it is likely that he will better persuade undecideds.

9. So we can't be honest?
We should be raining down hell even if we don't agree that Edwards whupped ass?

Like the Republicans who on Friday said that Bush won when he sounded dangerously close to a mental retard?

I have liked Edwards for a few years now, supported him for the nominee... and I feel that he didn't outright win--if others do, that's GREAT and I hope that others feel that way.

But I disagree. And that's cool.

10. I thought Edwards did very well
Cheney just happened to do better by talking about the senate attendance and missed votes. People want their leaders to work. Bush obviously doesn't do shit, but Cheney does and people know it. He won this debate.

Nonetheless, Kerry's momentum will continue and he will crush Bush in the next debates.

11. Take a deep breath.
My first reaction was that it was a disaster. Then I realized that it was a matter of expectations. I hoped to see JE chew him up and spit him out. Time and again I saw missed chances -- though many of them were missed when the moderater moved on, giving Cheney the last word. Because I didn't see my expectations fulfilled, I was in despair, forgetting that JE did what he had to do -- got the word out to the general public about Cheney.

Most of the populace are not politics junkies like we are. They don't know about this misadministration's flip-flops, the corruption of Halliburton. He even got a mention of Ken Lay in there. As the debate is parsed over the next few days, it will look better and better for JE.

But I wish he'd been more aware of his tics, the rapid blinking, the coffee cup, wetting his lips, etc. It made his performance look bad, thereby making Cheney look good. It was style over substance, but the style will be what the general public remembers.

16. You know what, trumad. I'm with you--Edwards did a great job,
and I don't understand anyone saying anything different.

All of the polls I have voted in have Edwards winning by large margins. These votes can't all have been placed by DU'ers!

17. Feel free to disagree, but
Edwards did well. I didn't expect this to be a knockout. In fact, if the media can accurately call one debate a draw, it was this one, though I give a slight edge to Edwards because of the impression he made with his body language. But figure that first-term senator Mr. Nice Guy (on the surface) John Edwards locked horns with Mr. Real President Dr. Death-and-Destruction, and made a credible case that the above mentioned villain was wrong. A marginal victory, but a victory nonetheless.
