I didn't think it was possible for bush to look like MORE of a dumbass
but tonight he did it.

I am reflecting something I read in another thread which I think merits discussion.

I posted early in the debate that, while I had always suspected cheney was actually the one running things, I simply had never really listened to cheney speak for an extended period of time and thus never completely had it confirmed, but tonight nailed it.

bush is NOT THE ONE IN CHARGE. I got a few "well duh!" reactions to that post, but seriously, I think a lot more people besides me out there always thought of that "cheney is really in charge" line as a semi-joke or never really thought about it much, which was my case.

But wow. How in the WORLD can anyone think bush is actually the president after tonight? bush couldn't string together that many words if he WANTED to.

Even at THAT, cheney was mumbly, half-hearted, boring and nearly put himself to sleep. When both men were supposed to endorse the top of their ticket, it was as if cheney were forcing himself to say the good stuff about bush. It was SO damn half-hearted. And no wonder! He probably thinks HE should get the "credit."

bush is looking like an even bigger dumbass right now and I honestly didn't think it was possible.

2. Cheney did Bush no favors tonight
In fact, he hurt their campaign mortally. There is no way Bush can recover from the "zero gravity" that he's in now. This lightweight is facing two more debates against Big John, including the debate on domestic policy!

Bush looks like an absolute joke compared to ANYONE currently running for President or Vice-President, and that's not a good position to be in when you're already supposed to be the Commander in Chief.

4. First, do no harm
Oops, too late.Tonight Dick Cheney single handedly showed the world who really has been running the country for the past four years.Edwards went toe to toe with him and called him on his lies.

3. The big difference
.....to us, the politically informed denizens of DU, the exposure that Cheney is "the man behind the curtain", is nothing new.

BUT

The big difference tonight is that the whole country got to see it!

The contrast between Dubya's stuttering, lost performance last Thursday night and Cheney's performance tonight is startling. Cheney was on tough SOB in the debate tonight and Edwards held his won and got in a few good punches but the real point is that Cheney is competent and Dubya is not. And that truth is laid bare for the world to see.

6. and that went through my mind tonight as i was watching
...that we were seeing the actual man who called all the strategy shots about who to invade and who to ignore and what to ignore and who to hire and who to shut out and whose agenda was the USA agenda. I can see him shoving the Patriot Act up the asses of Congress in the middle of the night, making people feel guilty. I can totally see him trying to shut down a 9-11 investigative committee and I can totally see him in his office the morning of 9-11, watching and waiting it out as he knew what was coming down. Creeped me out and I totally agree with the comment above that the whole world got to see it. As Gollumy as he seemed, he had better answers then Bush on occassion. And his physical reactions to Edwards weren't as "out there" as Bush's were. Scary shit, man....

10. told all media i emailed last nite and today
the biggest in this debate for me:

within two replies of cheney i was angry, angry at the fact cheney obviously has the answers while bush doesnt have a clue. bush is obviously a puppet and an inept one at that. to put cheney and bush on thurs nite next to each other, i was disgusted. disgusted at the lie given to the nation and the world

my husband walk in from work, and i was at that point of angry and he asked how it was going. minutes into it, and i say this f*cker.........showing the world bush is a nothing. this is what media has to understand

someone stated in threat how it leaves bush hollow at zero. so true. and i think this is what is going to catch on fire. and about damn time.

another obvious husband and i agree on. the farce of bush having a speech to give the answers to the debate, while in the debate he couldnt come up with. anyone can see the stupid in this. makes him truly be seen as pathetic

11. My feeling exactly!
I felt throughout the debate that daddy Dick was in there trying to clean up for the "supposed" boss. He did a better job of at least trying to stand up to our side. Our guys won but...
DICK beat BUSH BAD!!!
