Win can turn the VP debate into a major win
Just harp on the never met claim. The two had met three times, including having breakfast together. This is BIG really big. Cheney handed Kerry and Edwards a MAJOR victory with that comment. Cheney now has zero credibility and no business in the White House. People talk this lie up everywhere. Bring it up online. Bring it up around the water cooler. Talk it up with friends and family.

5. That's the best we can do?
I mean, I know it's really easy to dispute, but...

There was almost nothing in Cheney's answers that was accurate/true, can't we attack him on something a little more...important?

6. His credibility is important
It isn't the size of the lie but the boldness of it. The beauty of this lie is that it is simple and easy to disprove. No way for the righties to spin their way out of it. They met THREE times. They even had a meal together. There are pictures of the two meeting. Once Cheney is exposed as a liar and someone who can not be trusted, all his other lies are easier to dismiss. Look at how the liar tag hurt Gore in 2000.

7. I agree.
I watched the whole debate and don't even remember the "I never met him" comment.

Cheney had lots more substantive lies and distortions on issue that people actually care about.

<snip>

There was less than no reason to get into the fairly irrelevant topic of whether the two guys have ever met before. But Cheney did. And right like that, smack in the face, what he said turns out to be false.

The key for Democrats will be to drive into Cheney's falsehoods on Iraq and terror. But this is a nice addition. And Cheney has provided Dems with plenty of grist.

Oh ye Dems. That is your meme. Spin forth, spin I tell you.

(I can already hear the Dems' snark line: "Dick Cheney says he'd never met John Edwards before last night? I bet he wishes he still never had.")

10. I like to lead with the easy to disprove lie
Once Cheney is PROVEN to be liar and untrust worthy. Then I can hammer the other lies. Take down the character, then everything else follows with the greatest of ease.
