1. I will always remember Susan for her heroism
in sacrificing her chance for a fifth Iditarod championship when, leading with only a few miles left in the race, she withdrew because she was concerned about the health of her dog team.

This to me is the true mark of a great musher.

Anyone can win the Iditarod, but a true champion is one who puts the health of her animals before the obsession with victory.

Take your rest now, Susan. You've won the race.

3. I've wondered about the odd symptoms
When the family shared that they had many unexplained symptoms that had been there for years

I started a discussion format ...

http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/susanbutcher.htm

to start

I know that leukemias and lymphomas are many times caused from exposure to every day cleaning products. The same chemical of harm as that soldiers have had for decades ... and which was the primary chemical of harm in the Exxon Valdez oil spill Cleanup. I have some thoughts on that, too, if anyone would start a topic on 'bioremediation experiment' of the EDVOS. (I don't have enough posts).
