Arnold has also cashed in big-time in recent days with a series of celebratory events coinciding with his 58th birthday. He raised a reported $1 million at events in Orange and San Diego counties, one of them a $25,000-per- couple gathering hosted by best-selling author Dean Koontz.

4. Alive and writing ...................
I always thought of him as the RW answer to Stephen King. Koontz's books always end with the hero getting the girl, or other happy crap. The bad guys are often into New Agey stuff, though the hero is never overtly Christian. And he sets his books most often in Orange Co, CA, which was the place that sent B-1 Bob Dornan to Congress.

5. I live in So Cal
so I'm very familiar with his locals. I used to think of his books sometimes when I pass places like Carbon Canyon, or Cleveland National Forest.

I liked Watchers, and that one with the smart dog. But I was sick and confined back in those days and was reading just about anything I could find.

6. i dropped him a couple of months ago

and even posted here on DU about why i did it. years ago i really liked his books because of the southern california location, and the dogs, and the fact that he reflected soCal ethnicities in his characters. thennn.... the last couple of books began to seem a little preachy and rw-ish to me. when i saw the latest one at target, all i needed was a quick overview to put the book back on the rack a check of his political contributions confirmed my suspicions.

no more Koontz for me!!!!!!!
