WooHoo! Code Pink OC was on the news

Vicky Vargas of NBC channel 4 did a live interview at our rally tonight. She asked a lot of questions but didn't act as though she was very interested. I'm sure most of it will be on the cutting room floor, as they say.
Still, it is good exposure. We average 25-40 people each week. One of our favorites is an Iraqi veteran and we have parents with children who are in Iraq right now.
The support from the traffic grows every week as well. I'm so proud to stand with these wonderful people. It is truly an honor.

I appreciate the kind words. What really hurts are the people who yell "Communists!" at us as one great guy standing with us waves him off with an arm missing a hand, lost by a grenade in Iraq.

If these idiots knew about him, or the parents of children serving that protest with us, I wonder if they would feel differently. Probably not, huh?

As I said, it is such an honor to participate every week and stand with such wonderful people.

I'm very late to this, so you may not even see this--but I wanted to say it anyway.

Little story to inspire you:
I was talking with a representative of one of our 'pro-choice' organizations about the 'redness' of Orange County. She told me that many years ago, she lived in a county near Santa Cruz. While the area is now considered very liberal, when she lived there that was not the case. She told me a story of how she was set up to collect signatures for a 'liberal' petition and other times of petitioning for pro-choice causes--she told me people would SPIT at her and on her!!! In what is now considered a blue area!!

So hang in there--one day, you and those you stand with, just may turn that area BLUE! There is hope!

6. We protest every Wednesday night
