Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 09:40 PM by fudge stripe cookays
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local Cali businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

1.  musical equiptment sales
The days of the independent music store have been over for about 15 years, consumed by the mega stores Guitar Center etc..
I am very bad on computers and tryed to research Guitar center because if anything thier buying power has flooded the market with very inexpensive gear made anywhere but in America.Musicans in some areas have no choice. As far as I got in the research I have seen nothing good..This is worth checking into, sale figures are high in these music related areas.Alot of very nice musicans work in these stores, but the services offered are very counter productive to that musican you know next door.
Are there ties to Clear Channel ?

2. Interesting theory.
I know in Dallas we had Rockville Music for quite awhile, but I think they've gone under. And I'm pretty sure Austin may still have some great shops.

But this is definitely an area to check into. Or people should check want ads.

3. KICK!
I KNOW there are tons of great California businesses out there that could be part of this.

And plenty in places like Fresno and San Diego that can get crap billing.

Let's hear it!
