1. Info for Central Floridians ...

You can call your local cable/satellite provider and request that they carry a different ABC affiliate.

You can also call your local city or county government (in the case of cable) and make the same request.

Cable TV operates under the franchise of the local governing body.

3. Ignorance may not have a brain, but it has a wallet.
Call the local advertisers. Get your family and friends to call WFTV's local advertisers. I teach advertising and we tell the kids all the time that a few concerned nuts nationwide will get a campaign pulled if they call to complain. Imagine a hundred Floridians calling all of the local car dealerships, furniture stores, Disney, etc., who support WFTV and explaining exactly why they will stop patronizing those businesses unless WFTV changes their tune.

(I cross-posted this on a couple of threads, but if any of you Orlando DUers have time, please make some calls)

4. Hit them where it hurts -- right in the advertisers.
We may be able to scream at WFTV until we're blue in the face and get no reaction. But I can guarantee you that if you (the Orlando-area DUers) make a list of the local businesses who fund the show (watch the newscast and jot down the ones who appear in local ads) or the website and contact them directly, something will get done about it.

Imagine Todd Miner, Attorney at Law (who advertises on the WFTV website) getting inundated with e-mail and phone calls that say exactly where you, your family and friends won't be sending business in these hard economic times. Something will get done about it.

A few of WFTVs web advertisers:
