Relatives, classmates mourn 2 young victims of carbon monoxide west of Boca
Source: Orlando Sentinel

BOCA RATON - Grief counselors planned to be on hand today to talk to Loggers Run Middle School students who may have trouble coping with the weekend carbon monoxide deaths of two classmates.

School administrators planned to put up a bulletin board where students can write their goodbyes to Kaitlyn Brondolo and Amber Wilson, both 11, who were found dead during a sleepover in a home west of Boca Raton on Sunday morning.

Wilson told investigators that she and the girls had returned home from a trip to Wal-Mart at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, parked the Ford Escape in the garage, closed the garage door behind them and went to bed. Wilson said she could not shut off the vehicle's engine, according to Barbera.

1. The woman is a cretin..
No one with a functioning brainstem parks a vehicle that cannot be turned off inside a garage attached to the home, rolls down the door and goes to bed.

My heart goes out to everyone touched by this totally needless loss.

this:

"Wilson told investigators that she and the girls had returned home from a trip to Wal-Mart at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, parked the Ford Escape in the garage, closed the garage door behind them and went to bed. Wilson said she could not shut off the vehicle's engine, according to Barbera."

doesn't jibe with this:

"When deputies arrived, the vehicle was not running, the keys were on the counter and the tank was half full, Barbera said. Large amounts of carbon monoxide were detected in the house, she said."

unless some other facts are missing...and i still don't know how you CLOSE THE GARAGE DOOR then go to bed like the problem will solve itself...was she hoping the SUV would run out of gas on idle RPMs? (assuming for a moment her story is real?)

could the mother have been *really* drunk, high or whatever?

5. That sounds likely.
She manages to drive home, gets out of the car, passes out on the couch. A few hours later, wakes up, realizes the car is running, goes out and shuts it off, goes back in and passes out again. The girls, who went to bed while she was passed out, are dead before she turns the car off.

She said that she couldn't get the engine to stop running, but they found the keys on the counter, and the engine was off and the vehicle had a half tank of gas. I could believe that the engine maybe finally stalled after the O2 was depleted from the garage air, but I can NOT believe that the engine didn't shut off with the keys taken out of the ignition. This is not an old car with the half-ass safety measures of the past-- this is a computer-controlled vehicle equipped with a PATS key with an embedded RFID chip . Without that RFID chip's signal, you can't start the car even if you hot-wire it, and it sure wouldn't keep running.

7. It sounds like murder to me. Wilson had her bags packed?!!
for a business trip? It sounds more like she was planning to run after she'd killed her daughter.
