With what's going on in Illinois right now, this is when I miss Paul Simon.
Here was a REAL public servant. A man who took public service seriously. A man who did not abuse the public trust. Not one hint, not one suggestion of scandal and impropriety in his political career. A true liberal Democrat. One of the finest public servants this state has ever produced.

His life defined the phrase "public servant". May he ever be remembered as a good, decent and honest man.

5. There's a framed, b&w picture of him in the U of I college Dems cube.
We were still in grade school when he left the senate, but he's still very well respected by our generation of Democrats.
