At least according to GD:Presidential.

I, for one, am missing the joke.

3. Roland Burris
Do you think his appointment will stick? I think he is as good as choice as any. I think we need to deal with one problem at a time and getting someone decent appointed is a first priority. We can deal with Blagojevich later. Surely he will behave himself now that he knows he has been discovered.

15. Yes, he'd be a great senator.
He's a decent, honest and honorbale gentleman of the old school. Too bad Blago screwed it up for him!

8. I think you have to investigate Burris now too.
ANY appointment Blagojevich makes deserves intense scrutiny because of his remarks on tape.

I've never known Burris to be corrupt, and it would be a bizarre if something came out of it, but it has to be done.

**This** is why Blagojevich has to be forced out ASAP. He is incapable of doing anything without doubt. Illinois deserves a governor.

2. It's either hilarious, or Blago is some big effin' Dem hero.
Assholes. Why don't they worry about their own damn states?

9. It really did get to me yesterday.
It illustrates an utter disregard for Illinois. They clearly could give a damn about us.

And then, as some of us tried to show how Blagojevich is hurting the state, we get lectured on due process and "innocent until proven guilty" (which is a lovely strawman for someone completely unfamiliar with Blagojevich beyond "lol I LOVE THIS GUY"). Our complaint is that nobody is running the state. They don't get it.

I'm not the type of guy to hold a grudge, but the reaction to this whole debacle has been enlightening. Unless the issue falls into a certain agenda, DU doesn't care. Zero oxygen except for issue X, Y, and Z.

If Blagojevich had spoken at the Saddleback Church, said Obama was "articulate", or made a sexist remark about Hillary, you can bet there would be thread after thread after thread screaming for his ouster.

I'm not saying any one progressive issue should be important than another, but it seems many DU'ers do think so.

5. Unfortunately it is Tragic, and a shame that people are imperfect.
I'm from Illinois. Blagojevich has been brash and arrogant. He pilfered Police and Fireman retirement funds. He has not protected the common welfare.

Blagojevich does have some tasty hair.

Later.

6. I am afraid this will set us up for a Republican Governor again . . .
After the Clinton sex scandal, that was all people could see and that is how we ended up with George Bush for 8 years. I am afraid that people in Illinois will forget that we also have a Republican Governor sitting in prison and the Republican party doesn't have the corner on morality as they espouse themselves to have.

7. I almost puked. No Republican. No. No Republican Governor. I will fight that.
I will not roll over on the idea of a Puke. Blagojevich was flawed. Most people are. If you are an Illinoian, let us fight against the Pukes?

Thanks for your reply.

10. Yeah I don't find this funny either
I cannot believe that Burris is getting on TV and supporting the flea bag either.

11. Only one reason for Burris to do that
He has no intention of running for re-election in 2010 and Blago basically did him a favor so he can retire as a "former senator" on his future obit.

12. Yeah, it was clearly a self-serving move by Burris
Especially in light of how his comments about Blagojevich changed radically after his appointment.

Investigate Burris.

13. No, that would not be justifiable
You cannot investigate him simply because he took the seat. That is the sort of logic that led to the Whitewater special persecutor. You find some evidence of impropriety on Burris's part then fine, but you can't start an investigation by looking for something to investigate.
