The Peoria Police officers are filling in for regular security guards, who are out on temporary leave for various reasons.
"There have been some tickets issued. (The officers) were told to use discretion and use them sparingly," said district spokeswoman Lynne King. She said each carries a fine of $100.
School Board member Martha Ross said Friday she has been fielding complaints from parents about the tickets. "Our security guards don't issue citations. That is a decision that needs to be made by the board," she said."
This sounds like an efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
