2. I don't know, we were the fattest state in the nation a few years ago.
Maybe our chubbiness has something to do with it.

3. And...
wasn't that embarrassing. I'm not sure, but I think Indiana still ranks pretty high in that obesity category.

4. I found a site that put it at 19.5% nationwide
"1.1. How many people have a disability?

An estimated 19.4% of noninstitutionalized civilians in the United States, totaling 48.9 million people, have a disability. Almost half of these people (an estimated 24.1 million people ) can be considered to have a severe disability."

6. 5.1. How many people are considered to be work disabled? 10%

"The number of noninstitutionalized people in the United States with a work disability is estimated to be 16.9 million, which represents 10.1% of the working age population (16 to 64 years old)."

So the 20% figure would include children and retirees.

8. I may be wrong, but HAVING a disability and being ON "disability"
... are 2 different things.

I still think Mitch's number was considerably high, though.

9. Yeah, "Bad Backs" are popular here in Indiana
Knew of a guy who was "On Disability" for his bad back, could not work, but he sure could knock-up his ol' lady every year. Had something like 8 kids...

Know 2 guys who got doctor's statements for waiver of the Morse test for their Ham Radio licenses, because their "Bad Backs" precluded them sitting in a chair for the 5 minutes it took to complete a test...But they'd play computer games for HOURS at work....
