Obama in Indianapolis 10/8/8
Anybody here remember a Democratic presidential candidate visiting Indiana with less than a month to go in the general election?

Anybody here remember Indiana's electoral college votes actually being in play?

After years of being ignored, and years of watching Indiana go "red" before the polls in most states are even closed, I'm proud to be able to say that we are going to the fairgrounds tomorrow to see the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Indiana since 1964, and THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, BARACK OBAMA!

1. Enjoy it Brother
My in-laws are going, they are the last two in the family to get to see him. My wife and I and my sister in law were lucky enough to see him for two days running back in May when he was here for the JJ Dinner. He's a happening. I'm a crabby, cynical, middle aged guy and I am in awe of the man. He was not my first, second or even third choice, but we are certainly blessed to have him as our standard-bearer.

3. Different times
2004: Kerry only got 969,00 votes in Indiana.

2008: Both democratic nominees got a total of 1.2 million votes in the Indiana primary.

4. late post...
It was great to be there.

I'm very hopeful that we'll turn this state blue for Obama/Biden. There are a lot of Obama yard signs in Hamilton County. Yes...Hamilton County.

Even if we go red on 11/4, at least we won't be competing w/ KY to see which state goes in the "R" column first!

VOLUNTEER
MAKE CALLS
GET A YARD SIGN
THIS THING COULD HAPPEN!

5. "Obama yard signs in Hamilton County"
I'm not a religious man but I think that could be a sign of the apocalypse.

We're in Speedway and so far, ours is the only Obama sign I've seen here in town. I have noticed that there seems to be fewer McCain signs and stickers than there were for the chimp in 2000 and 2004. Most of the die hards have their "Mitch" signs but nothing for McCain.

It was great to be there. So much positive energy!

6. plenty of signs
Just today, I saw several OBAMA / MITCH pairings. Truthfully, I don't think JLT has a puncher's chance, but Barack/Joe could beat the unholy union of Incontinent/Incompetent here in Indiana.

7. ... and again this week!

Sen. Barack Obama will return to Indianapolis on Thursday morning for a campaign event before traveling to Hawaii to be with his seriously ill grandmother.

Details of the campaign stop, including location and what people should do to attend, were not available Monday, said Jonathan Swain, spokesman for Obama's campaign in Indiana.

Wierd that he didn't just go as planned to Madison WI or Iowa, then loop back to CHI to fly out ... why Indy? Wierd.
Good, but wierd.

8. Sweet!
We took off work and volunteered for the last one.

If Obama wins Indiana, look for McCain/Palin to be remembered as the biggest losers in republican history.

9. Thanks for the info
I wish I weren't up North. I would love to see that guy. Just finished listening to Barack speaking after Michelle in Florida. He just keeps getting better and better.

Anyone else there??

My pics were taken with my camera-phone so they're crappy but a co-worker who came with me had his digital -- will post some when I can.

I found it most disturbing that on the walk back to my office, we noticed the City/County building's side streets were blocked off by uniformed officers. Coworker asked what's up and they said there was a 'threat' that 'some group was going to storm the building'. Turns out it was a marching/flag contingent from Michigan City -- yes, that's right, Mayor Ballard is apparently afraid of teenagers in orange camouflage carrying musical instruments and 'Vote Early' signs.

:wtf:
