Brian Williams Drops Out of Indy Mayor's Race
Bummed out about this. Brian truly was bringing fresh perspectives to the city.

Now, it will be business as usual. Either Democrat Melina Kennedy will take out current Mayor Greg Ballard, and return the Bart Peterson axis to power, or Ballard will somehow pull it out and allow the Goldsmith GOP powers to continue to pull the strings.

Either way, the city is going to be run by the same big law firms and insiders. Not a good thing.

1. Melina Kennedy has been in the trenches with us in trying to save our libraries
and she has spoken forcibly against the inept Ballard Administration. I wouldn't have any problems supporting Williams either. The point is that our city can ill afford another Ballard term. Let's face it, the man is truly stupid. Ballard is just a front man for the financial interests that he represents.

2. I agree with you.
Melina Kennedy would make a good mayor. Very impressive individual. Ballard is something of an overachieving High School Assistant football coach -- a true bourgeois twit!

4. Agree, but disagree
Ballard is clearly inept and his election was a total fluke made possible by the property tax realignment and Peterson's tone-deaf management of the local option tax increase.

I don't know much about Kennedy, but I was not a big fan of Peterson's administration. He did some good things, and it was great to have a Democrat in the mayor's office after 32 unbroken years of Republican rule, but I'm not crazy about bringing the Peterson axis back into power which is what is likely to happen with Melina. Would much rather have had some new blood and fresh thinking.

and elect Curry prosecutor THIS FALL. With hope that the
statute of limitations has not run out on some of these jokers.
Give Curry a good chance to keep those left looking over their
shoulders. I believe the prosecutors race will be the one that
should have ALL of our attention and effort this year. The
outcome of that race will weigh heavily on the mayor's race
next year, particularly if the "culture of corruption" continues
to function as it has thus far.
