Two GREAT musical events this weekend
The Iowa City Jazz fest July 4-6 and of course, my fave, the Mississippi Valley Blues Fest July 3-5. Excellent bands, good (if fattening) food, and cold beer, this year featuring micro brews. 28 bands, 2 stages, workshops, photo exhibit, and just general all around fun. Cost is $18.00 at the gate. The Blues Fest will be held in Downtown Davenport this year due to all the ^*@! H2O in LeClaire Park. But, come hell or high water, the Fest goes on.
The IC jazz fest is an even better deal. It's free! It's held on the ped mall and I imagine that the residents of IC and surrounding areas will welcome the rest from all the water. Hope to see some of you at one or both events. I will be at Blues Fest all three days and at Jazz Fest on Sunday. For info, go to www.mvbs.org and www.summerofthearts.com/jazzfest.
No matter what you all choose to do on this holiday weekend, please be safe. We want to beat McCain and we all need to be around to help out.

1. Out of curiousity, when was the last time the Blues Fest was
flooded out of LeClaire Park? It does not seem long ago.

3. 2001
When they put it in the parking lot of The ballpark. It did not go well. This year there will be indoor plumbing and AC if needed, although it sounds like the weather will be nearly perfect.

5. Yonder Mt. String Band is quite good
If Bluesfest wasn't going on, I'd consider going out there. Have fun if you go.
