(Red Oak) -- A major economic blow to Montgomery County. Officials with Romech, a manufacturing division of Magna International, Incorporated's intier automotive seating group, announced today (Wednesday) that it will consolidate with the company's other facilities over the next 15 months and close the Red Oak plant by the end of 2006. Approximately 400 employees will be affected by the plant's shutdown. In a press release, company officials state that workforce reductions will begin during the second quarter of next year, and continue in stages until operations cease. Romech officials attribute the plant's closure to difficult economic conditions facing the auto industry due to reduced domestic production and customer demands.
