Started a new Iowa blog
http://commoniowan.blogspot.com

Please come and check it out. I will still be posting on DU and will look to DU for ideas for posts. The blog will lean towards Iowa politics, but will also discuss national issues and basically anything I want (hehe). Please visit and leave comments. Thanks.

2. Nice job, pstans! Sorry to hear about blogforiowa.
Used to stop by there about once a week and keep up. Plus I didn't know King didn't make it through college. That is often overrated but I guess if he said he 'attended' then we assume 'graduated'. When I figure how to use the journal feature I'll add you.

3. Latham did not graduate either
I guess Republicans do not think much about higher education. Latham went to Wartburg College one year, then to Iowa State for 3 years. But he did not graduate. I would like to know why.

Legend has it that when his brothers were building up Latham Seeds, they felt the company would be better off if they sent Tom to Congress, and there he has been since 1995.

4. Thanks Tom

I posted something about this on the blog. I hope I wasn't too mean on Latham in the post.

What am I kidding, no I don't.

I wonder if Latham is doing his town hall meetings in every county again this year or does he not do those during election years? You know he wouldn't want people to actually get to know him the same year they go to the polls.

5. Latham Town Hall meetings
I happened to check out his congressional website this morning, and he has a number of meetings scheduled for the week beginning March 18. I think they are mostly north of us, except Marshalltown on the 22nd and Waukee on the 25th of March.

If anyone can make the meetings, it would be good to show up and ask tough questions. It is not very hard to stump Latham.

6. My wife got something in the mail today
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 05:11 PM by pstans
She is registered as an independant and voted for Latham in 2004. I didn't get anything, so I guess Latham only wants a friendly crowd there.

I am going to be out of town on the 22nd, so I won't be able to attend the one in Marshalltown.

7. Maybe yours is in the mail
If it is sent by his congressional office, it has to go out to everyone, regardless of party affiliation. So if you don't receive it, it should be checked into. However, your mailing should be there tomorrow. My wife and I are both registered Democratic, but I expect our notice will come by tomorrow.

8. I have drawn some criticism for this
In my posts about Latham and King not having college degrees, I have drawn some criticism for it. I just posted a more in depth entry about my reasoning. Please feel free to post any comments about it.

10. Can I just say
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for posting a link on your blog to a Daily Show clip! I don't have cable and I have super-slow dial-up, so I am always stoked to find a clip that I can download to watch. Yay!
