Ben Chandler considering run for U.S. Senate
Chandler says he’s being encouraged by supporters and he’s been approached by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee about a possible run next year.

Chandler, a Democrat, was at the Kentucky Capitol Friday and had a meeting scheduled with Gov. Steve Beshear. He said they were planning to talk about a variety of issues and politics may be one of them.

Beshear confirmed their meeting, but declined to say specifically what they were talking about.

Chandler is the grandson of Kentucky political icon and Major League Baseball commissioner Happy Chandler. He is a former Kentucky attorney general and was the Democratic nominee for governor in 2003.

hes pretty well liked in kentucky as far as i can tell.
shoulda ran the last election cycle id imagine.

he has a lot of family history in the state.

the only reason he didnt get the governorship when he ran was because the nation wanted some sorta change, and since a democrat(with a scandal) had the office....they just didnt realise voting republican was such a horrible bad change. lol.

they wont make that mistake again for a while ;)

I would hate to loose him as our representative here in central Ky, but he would make a great Senator. He has good political sense too, when most of the Democrats in Kentucky were all about Hillary, Rep. Chandler came out in support of Obama. I thought then he knew how to guage the political winds and it would serve him, and we who he represents, well.

If he were to get the Democratic nomination for Senate, I hope a very strong Democrat would take his place. I would hate to see a weak democrat take his place only to be replaced by some total wing-nut Republican like that idiot Stan Lee (God, I hear the banjos playing in the background when I see that man).
