Kerry Crescent Meeting tonight (NOLA)--also BIG turnout needed sunday
Kerry Crescent will meet at the Fire Fighters Union, 329 S. Dorgenois Street, and NOLA. Our guest speaker will be Louis Rainey, Political Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party.

Also there is a Get Your Act On/Progressive Action Network meeting on sunday. I encourage everyone who can to attend. We may be getting some press coverage, so it's important that we get as many people there as possible. These meetings mostly focus on voter registration initiatives we're working on, as well as a Second Line we're organizing. We could always use more help, so please join us and get involved New Orleans!

Hi...has the Democratic party there officially endorsed anyone for alexander's place? I heard the judge ruled that they could place another candidate on the ballot. Is this for the democratic primary or the nov election? could you please explain how the election process works in LA. Any more news about Zelma Blakes? Thanks

4. HEY YOU! :)
You're one of the gracious people who donated to her. As far as I know the State Party has NOT endorsed Tisa. I'm going to a meeting tonight where Louis Rainey, Political Director of the La. Dem. Party will be our guest speaker. If I get a chance to, I'll try to discuss this with him. As far as I know, if none of the candidates wins 50% or more of the votes in this election, there will be a run off between the top D and R candidates. I'm not absolutely positive on this, as I couldnt' find where I had originally read it.

Thanks for caring. You sure don't post much :) I was about to welcome you to the DU...but i think i've already done that

5. Thanks for the welcome
I just found the site when I heard about Zelma Blakes.
I finally understand the system there, I think. Come nov 2 Tisa and whoever else the Democratic party choses will run against alexander and the other republican. everyone will vote for whoever, and if no clear over 50%, the two highest compete in december, which could conceivably be 2 democrats or 2 republicans.sounds strange..maybe i have it wrong.
I read on one site that the mayor of Bastrop, Clarence Hawkes, has been selected. Have you heard anything about that?
If Louis Rainey takes questions from the floor, would be a great question to ask. I guess they want someone more "well known and likely to win", rather than neccesarily the best person.
There are a lot of people who are waiting to see who the official party candidate is before they support Tisa.
