Vitters running ads saying he's FOR buying drugs from Canada
Lately, Vitters running ads saying he's for the purchase of prescription drugs from Canada. I saw it run during 60 Minutes tonight.

This is an issue he's stealing from the Democrats. And it's Chris John's and John Kennedy's fault they let him do this first. OF COURSE they're going to be for the same thing, but now Vitters has co-opted the issue for his own.

Looks like Vitters is trying to win the election straight out without a runoff, too, as many ads as he's running.

1. That's his only hope, right?
Vitter would have to win outright, b/c in a run-off he would surely lose, right?

Is Chris John far ahead of Kennedy right now? Any chance that one would drop and support the other to stave of a Vitter victory?

3. I just can't see Vitters winning outright
This media buy and his pandering on the drug prices is probably his big gamble. I don't see it paying off for him.

Chris John will probably prevail as the Democrat. He'll have his hands full against Vitter in the runoff, though. Vitter will almost certainly be able to outspend him by 50 percent.

2. Vitter bugs me
Ever since I read about this-
http://www.motherjones.com/news/outfront/2002/11/ma_153_01.html
He makes me cringe.

The recruiters cited the No Child Left Behind Act, President Bush's sweeping new education law passed earlier this year. There, buried deep within the law's 670 pages, is a provision requiring public secondary schools to provide military recruiters not only with access to facilities, but also with contact information for every student -- or face a cutoff of all federal aid.

I keep a fistfull of Hallibacon bucks ( http://www.insanereagan.com/graphics.shtml ) in my car to throw at his supporters that I see on the intersections in Lafayette.

5. Vitter is slime
and No Child Left Behind is a joke.
I fear he may win outright, simply because of name recognition.
Chris John supports Cockfighting. Hard to imagine how any supposedly enlightened person can admit that.

8. Cockfighting doesn't need to be an election issue
There are many more important things to worry about.

4. Most of the elected officials here are endorsing Kennedy
Congressman William Jefferson, Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie J. Jordan, Jr. and New Orleans Councilmember Reneé Gill Pratt voiced their support for John Kennedy this past week. I'm not sure how much good it will do but it is very interesting. Anyone know of any other democratic endorsments?

6. The numbers are more important
Endorsements help, but the latest numbers still indicate Chris Johns as the only dem with a remote chance of giving Vitter a run for his money...and not much of a chance there either. Vitters commercials (especially the one featuring his kid) are doing wonders for the guys visibility and likability. And there are tons of "consumer voters" out there that remain clueless of the issues but will vote based on familiarity and personality. They may make me sick, but Vitters rakin' 'em in and getting their votes.
