ROCKLAND (Feb 19): Snowplow manufacturer Fisher Engineering, which is located in the Rockland Industrial Park, has temporarily sent home its production crew due to a statewide shortage of propane fuel. A company representative said he does not know when operations will resume.

“We’ve had to shut down production,” Plant Manager Keith Hagelin said Monday. He would not specify how many employees are affected, except to say, “quite a few.”

“While new deliveries of propane are coming into Maine by both rail and truck, the situation remains serious and supplies of the fuel are still tight,” the Governor’s Press Office announced Monday.

1. Any others affected?

A woman I work with told me today they have been out of propane at home for a few days and her supplier isn't even returning calls. She doesn't have this for heat, but it does supply her kitchen stove. She said she called other suppliers and they all tell her they can't take on any new customers because of the supply situation. I have propane for hot water heater, kitchen stove and our clothes drier. But we haven't run out as I believe we got a delivery just before this became an issue. I plan to call our supplier in the next day or so, to see if they are having an problems with deliveries. I'd like to hear about how any of you or your neighbors/friends are being affected.

2. We have friends down the road who rely on it for heat...
they were scheduled for a delivery last week and got one, but only were delivered half of what they were supposed to be delivered.
