I am just so depressed
The Bangor coordinated campaign office only got two volunteers tonight to make calls for all D candidates. Two. This was supposed to be a huge voter get out the vote drive tonight. Really what is the point. Registered Dems are voting for McCain and Collins. It is just so sad. No one wants to volunteer. We have lost his election again.

2. .

I'm sorry. Where are the college kids? Do you have any interns? Have they started class yet? Toby was at the Knox County Dems meeting saying that they were going to be at all of the campuses registering and asking for volunteers. Down in Bath Kim had a few interns helping her out in the office.

I went to my first Knox county meeting the other night and the room was full. Last weekend I took the kids to the Belfast office open house (I couldn't stay because they were all over the place) and the room was full, though it was a small room.

Don't lose hope.

5. Got it!
Any snobbery is going to drastically reduce the appeal of our party to people who are apathetic or disinterested.

6. don't think this problem

Don't think this problem doesn't exist. I see three couples leave in a huff because the meeting was being controlled by a jerk

10. I believe it.
Getting interested in politics again for the first time since high school, I am frequently appalled at the total lack of respect for a large segment of the population some of our high profile party members have (RW is as guilty, but it is to be expected from them).

7. Volunteers don't like to call...
If you think it's tough to get volunteers to the phones up
there, you should come Downeast. However, we are beginning to
see some come back to us since Obama's incredible speech.
Working in the trenches isn't a lot of fun, but the pay-off's
the bomb!! No, we haven't lost the election and YES WE CAN win
it. Get back into those trenches and get going...time's
awasting.

8. FWIW, I have been volunteering in Waterville and
I find it exciting because the volunteers, and even the paid staff, are college kids or just out of college. I think I am the oldest one there and I'm loving it to see all the excitement from these kids.

I found this very inspiring since it was written by one of their own. And it certainly makes you want a change!

12. The Maine Democratic Party will hit its 1 millionth call this week
There has never been an effort like this before. There are phone banks every day around the state.

Don't lose heart. The latest numbers show Maine will not be competitive (I'm not entirely sure of that) and Obama will win (I AM sure of that!)

Thanks for all your help. :)
