I know the naval academy is there, so I'm assuming that it can be conservative to a certain extent but it seems like a nice town. Should I think otherwise? You tell me. :-)

3. Great! Small town feel very historic beautiful bay. I live about
25 mins south. You will love it, very progressive, great restaurants/pubs and a strong Dem community.

Cheers!

5. Annapolis is very beautiful, but expensive. Housing is expensive and
taxes are high. I know someone who recently got an astronomical amount of money for a house that would sell for $150,000 tops where I live.

Zuni lives there so he would know more, but I have friends there that aren't thrilled with the taxes in relationship to the quality of the public schools.

However, it is VERY beautiful.

11. If you are into sailing, it's kind of a mecca for that.
Three major sailing locations on the east coast: Ft. Lauderdale, Newport, RI and Annapolis.

10. It is a beautiful place, I need to get back up that way to see my
brother.... I pretty much fell in love with it but then there is the $$ issue.

12. Annapolis
My husband and I live in Annapolis and we love it. As far as taxes go, my parents paid a heck of a lot more in New Jersey so I don't think they are very high at all. The elementary schools are uneven in quality, but getting better. A year or two ago one of the upscale magazines did an article about Annapolis being a great place to retire to and since then there has been an influx of older buyers but actually it's not as conservative as you might think. I was semi-shocked a couple of months ago when one of our neighbors stopped by to ask us some questions about our Honda Element and made some wonderfully disparaging remarks about people in big SUVs with Bush/Cheney bumper stickers on them. Feel free to PM me if I can answer any questions you might have.
