What are some local beers to try while I am there?

1. Dogfish head, Old Dominion
Dogfish head is from DE but we get a lot of it here too. Old Dominion is in VA and makes some good stuff, try their Oak Barrel Stout.
Blue Ridge is another local, but I'm not all that impressed with their line.
Clipper City has some good beers. Go for their Heavy Seas line

Go to either RFD or The Brickskeller http://www.thebrickskeller.com/ their owned by the same people. Brickskeller has the largest selection of beer in the country. They've been serving a wide variety of beers for over 30 years.

3. Natty Bo, hon!
Otherwise known as National Bohemian. It's not brewed in MD anymore, but it's still a local beer. I've never tried it myself, though I keep meaning too.

If you're interested in wine, Linganore Wine Cellars/Berrywine Plantations are quite good.

5. A few brewpubs to check out. . .
Franklin's in Hyattsville. Good beer, good food, and a funky general store.

Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis. Also, locations in Baltimore and Savage.

Dogfishhead in Germantown.

There's also Capital City Brewing Co (several locations) which has good happy hours, but the beer is nothing special.
