DU goes to Cape Cod July 9-10
I just received an invitation to meet Rep. Mel Watt on Martha's Vineyard. Catch? It's a fundraiser.

But that got me to thinking. MV is a short ferry ride from Falmouth. Between Falmouth and Mashpee is a wonderful area called Waquoit Bay. Great for kayaking, swimming, clamming, windsurfing, fishing, etc.

Anyone up for a 2-3 day trip, camping in the area (I know a secret place that costs $4/day).

If interested, join the greater Boston DU meetup group - http://du.meetup.com/95/events/

1. What's Mel Watt doing in Martha's Vineyard?

 He's a congressman from my state. Don't tell me he has a plush Summer home there.... Hopefully he's attending a Dem function?

4. That's a reasonable contribution....but I still don't understand why
someone who lives on Martha's Vineyard is giving a fundraiser for Mel Watt of NC. It worries me. Unless it's a NC'linian who has a home there and figures they can help Mel out.

7. He is now chair of the Congressional Black Caucus
and a fair number of well off Black folks are on the Vineyard in the summer. His leadership role is probably the reason he is doing the fundraiser.

8. Many Dems vacation on MV
Including Kerry and Clinton.

And the Kennedy clan is just across the sound in Hyannisport.

11. I'm ready to make reservations.
If you are serious about going for a day outing, to MV or to stay over and camp, register at http://du.meetup.com/95/events/4359660/

I'd especially like to hear from anyone with a

1. Small boat to ferry from the mainland to the island (about 1 mile of protected water).

2. Larger boat capable of crossing from Falmouth to MV.
