Delegate Leanings
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 07:20 PM by pmegan
So this is the count that I have thus far (picked up 'round teh intarweb):

Amherst - 20 for Patrick
Arlington - 37 delegates for Patrick
Ashland - 7 for Patrick, 1 undecided
Boston (East) - 13 for Reilly, 3 for Patrick
Boston (JP) - sweep for Patrick
Boston (South End) - 14 for Patrick
Boylston - 1 for Patrick, 2 undecided
Brookline - all 47 delegates (the largest in the state!) for Deval
Burlington - "a majority of both men and women for Patrick"
Cambridge (Ward 2) - 6 for Patrick
Cambridge (Ward 4) - sweep for Patrick
Georgetown - Patrick
Gloucester - 14 for Patrick and 1 undecided
Hingham - 10 for Patrick
Manchester- 3 for Patrick
Medford - "some wards swept by Patrick, and others swept by Reilly"
Medway - 5 for Patrick, 1 for Reilly
Newton - Wards 7 and 8 for Patrick
Paxton - Joe Kennedy (yeah, I don't know either)
Plymouth - 26 for Patrick (Even though Terry Reilly had a slate for Reilly all set up there)
Rockport - 5 for Patrick
Salem - sweep for Deval
Somerville - 48 for Partick
Sudbury - sweep for Patrick
"The Cape" - Patrick predicted to get about 125 out of 157 delegates "with most of the others being undecided"
Watertown - sweep for Patrick
Wayland - sweep for PatrickAmherst - 20 for Patrick

Anyone have anything else to add?

1. I was at the Brockton Caucus. I'll post more thoughts on it later
They were surprised at all the new faces coming out.

And most of those new faces were there from Duval and other progressive candidates.

I refused to sign the pettitions for Stephen Lynch or Bob Creedon.

Speaking of... I had a short talk with Sen. Cretin. I mean Creedon.

You know Creedon actually tries to paint himself as a progressive?

It's telling that when we were passing around the pettition for Deb Goldberg, Creedon's guy said, "Well, with a name like Goldberg..."

Anyway, here is some good news:

A progressive candidate is running against Stephen Lynch in the primary!

Oh, one more thing...

I'm going to Worcester!! Whoo-hoo! Worcester! Worcester!

I was trying to think of nice things to say about Worcester. How about, "It's better than Attleboro?"

I'm kidding.

I like Worcester.

2. Brockton?
Congrats on your success! I'll be in Worcester too.

So how many delegates for each candidate in Brockton?

4. No idea. But there were a lot of new young faces...
and most of them seemed to congregate around Jass Stewart.

I didn't know who to ask for any numbers, but I'm guessing there wasn't a massive groundswell of young people to rally around Stephen Lynch and Reilly.

5. New Young Faces
We had 1 young man (24) who was a new face to town politics, but he didn't say who he was supporting... in Hingham today that was code for supporting Reilly (the mood of the room was fairly obvious) but I don't know about him in particular. Young people who take politics seriously are a good thing!

8. Hingham victory
Congratulations! I figured it would be a clean sweep, but I'm just paranoid/cynical enough that I was a little bit worried!

Yes co-op 8 on Monday... I can't wait to hear how the other towns went!

15. Correct link for Phil Dunkelbarger
http://www.dunkelbargerdemocrat.com

I heard there is some kind of forum on the Iraq War at Curry College in Milton with Stephen Lynch tonight. I think Phil might be there with peace activists.

12. Any reports from Andover?
My godson's 3rd birthday was today and I couldn't make it.

My brother in Somerville said his ward was all Deval, and my sister in Ward 3 in Cambridge reported a Deval sweep also. This is not surprising in such a liberal area, but I wonder about more conservative parts of Essex and Bristol counties.

14. Hopkinton and Waltham
In Hopkinton Deval took 6 of the 7 Delegates. The other and both alts are undeclared leaning Deval.

I was in Waltham ward 9 we had similar results 2 Delegates and an alternate for Deval. Ex-officio and alternate undeclared leaning Deval. Deval swept ward 7. The other wards were about 50%/50% Deval/UNDECLARED (many leaning Deval). I only know of one Reilly Delegate from our city.
