Detroit Free Press: Gov.-elect Rick Snyder to live in Ann Arbor, commute
First-time officeholder and political outsider Gov.-elect Rick Snyder may be going to Lansing.

But he isn't moving to Lansing.

Snyder will become the first governor not to live in the executive residence since it was donated to the state in 1969, and will commute to work from his home outside Ann Arbor. He has a daughter who just entered ninth grade, and he doesn't want to disrupt his family.

The switch will require some strategic planning, however, especially by the Michigan State Police, who will provide security for the governor and his family. Snyder acknowledged earlier this week that there will be costs associated with his decision -- since the Lansing residence will be maintained and used for other purposes. ..........(more)

1. Do you have pictures
of the Governors Mansion and Snyder's Ann Arbor home?

2. I'm guessing he'll telecommute a lot
Think our new governor will slug it out on US-23 twice a day like an ordinary citizen? If he drives (or is driven), he'll have lights flashing and siren blaring anytime there's a construction zone or other obstruction. Or he'll take a State Police helecopter.

I think he'll "phone it in" a lot, not bothering to show up in Lansing.

We don't want the job to interfere with his life, do we?

:hi:

3. I know the neighborhood he lives in
Which is in Superior Township, not Ann Arbor. Very pricey, gated community.
