ST. PAUL − Sue Ek’s candidacy for state representative took a major hit Friday when a Ramsey County judge ruled that she hasn’t lived in St. Cloud long enough to qualify for a Dec. 27 special election.

The order from Judge George T. Stephenson, made public at about 7:15 p.m., said no credible evidence had been received at a Friday hearing to show that Ek lived anywhere other than St. Paul on June 27.

To comply with state election law, she had to establish her residence in St. Cloud by that date to qualify as a candidate for the special election to fill Joe Opatz' House 15B seat....

Stephenson cited a Home Occupation Affidavit that Ek signed July 9 that showed she identified 1258 Niles Ave. in St. Paul as her residence. Ek signed the form as part of a process to get a license to operate a home office at that address."

(See the Minnesota forum for more about this race.)

edited to correct that she's a state house, not state senate candidate.

1. So, was she lying about where she lives then (July 9) or is she lying now?

Either way, she was lying at one time or the other. Are Republicans capabale of telling the truth about anything?

2. If you read the whole article
you see that the judge basically calls her either stupid or a liar.

4. What a bonehead!
How do Republicans put up with this idiocy in the name of creating the new aristocracy?

5. "The court is unable to understand...
...how a college graduate with degrees in public relations and journalism might have been confused by this simple language,” Stephenson wrote in his order.

Classic :) Go judge:headbang:

7. Judge Stephenson rocks!
I watched a criminal trial he presided at this summer (defendant was a private security guard who shot an unarmed 15 year old kid in the back at point blank range). From what I saw, his honor has limited tolerance for B.S.

6. She does come across as incredibly stupid in 2 respects,
first - for thinking of these dumb things to say in the first place
second - for actually saying them, rather than censoring herself. I loved when she said she signed the affidavit for residency *only* so she could keep her non-profit status in St Paul. LOL
