1. Considering
I'm going to take the volunteer training at Coldsnap legal collaborative on Sunday. If I'm not manning phones for them I will definitely be marching.

2. I may be able to go to the actual march
if I know the time it starts, as opposed to standing around listening to speakers telling me what I already know. (I bet more people would turn up if they didn't have to listen to all those speeches first.)

However, I'm behind on my work, since I pretty much lost the last few days, so I simply can't spend the whole afternoon. (My stepfather died last week, and since my mother is 87 and frail, my brothers and I had to take care of everything.)

6. LL I'm sorry about your stepdad
I hope you're family is doing okay under the circumstances.

I'm with you, I'd go to the march, but I really don't need to hear the speeches. I was also checking bus schedules and it looks like a real pain to get over to the capital from Bloomington. Usually I drive over and park nearby, but I really don't want to try and negotiate traffic in that area Monday. I also can't convince anyone to go with me and I don't want to go over there alone.

7. Thanks; there was an obituary article in the Strib on Wednesday
We had the graveside service that day, but there's a memorial service on September 6.

even though it;s nearing the end of its usefullness. it still willl become a historic family icon that my children can tell their children about...

"yep, old grandpa, he fought the forces of darkness in the summer of 08.
Lord, but the tyrant Bush was oppressing people at that time.."

11. I love that - "grandpa fighting the forces of darkness"
I still haven't made up my mind if I'm going mainly because I hate to go over alone - but it doesn't seem right to miss this chance.

15. I'm thinking I may try to get over there.
I figure I'll take the train to Minneapolis then just hop the 16 over to St. Paul. It'll take awhile but I'll regret it forever if I don't go.

On the other hand, my hayfever is bad today and I can't get it under control - if I eat any more allergy medicine I may go into a coma. I haven't had an attack like this in years that south wind we have today must be bringing some new allergen up to torment me.

10. I talked this over with a long-time peace activist
who is a member of my church. She's in her eighties and plans to be there, but when I explained my situation, she said I should probably stay home and catch up on work.

I think that's what I'll do, although I hate to miss this historic occasion, because I'm starting to stress on getting stuff done over the weekend.

13. If you don't show up to the march cause you are afraid
If you don't show up to the march cause you are afraid, then you shouldn't be allowed to live in America... just pack your bags and go live in some other dictatorship

This is our freaking state, our cities and our country.

There is nothing to be afraid of. Go to the streets every single day you can for the RNC.

18. There were quite a few locals involved with the "Welcoming Committee"
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 08:43 PM by dflprincess
they weren't all from outside Minnesota.

Unless I misunderstood your post and you were referring to Republican delegates from other states. No doubt most of them may be called assholes.

Apparently so.

They weren't all from outside Minnesota.

Screw them!

They invited the assholes. And those were NOT MN kids protesting with weapons. They are outsiders! Not Minnesotans!
