From today's Strib "Protester defends bringing guns to Obama rally"
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 09:24 PM by dflprincess
The wingnut in question is a former Cub security guard who was convicted of assault after spraying a customer with pepper spray..and he still has his conceal & carry permits. At least he had the sense to stay outside Target Center and not try to get into the rally.

A Rogers man said he was trying to make a point about the sanctity of the Second Amendment to the Constitution when he set out on Saturday.

"The Second Amendment isn't suspended just because the president's in town," said Hendrickson, 32, who said he showed police at Obama's health care rally his license to carry and conceal a weapon under state law.

Minneapolis police confirmed that they questioned a man Saturday in front of Target Center. They did not identify Hendrickson, but Hendrickson said he was questioned by Minneapolis police and a Secret Service agent after he said they spotted the outline of his weapon.

Hendrickson said he carried a .40 caliber Glock 22 handgun concealed in a holster on his hip, and a smaller Kel Tec 380 in a pocket....

There are over 400 comments. I only read through about 4 pages, but to my surprise most of them where written by people who are not insane (not what usually appears in the Strib comments).

This was one of my favorites

What if his kids get sick?
This is exactly the kind of person who probably needs a public option for health care. He sounds like a guy who can't hold a job so he probably doesn't get health insurance from the jobs he gets fired from. I pity that his children will get sick and then a benefit will need to be held to try and help pay their medical bills. I bet he'll wish he had a public option then.

1. This happened the same day my friend was threatened with 90 days in jail for honking
Someone convicted of spraying another person with pepper spray bringing guns to a Presidential event is perfectly fine, but honking in support of protesters is an act worthy of jail time.

2. Hell! up until Prez Obama we couldn't even have a Poster on a stick
We had to stay back so many yards if there was Secret Service. We couldn't have a poster on a stick as the stick could be used as a weapon.
When Laura Bush came for a fundraiser.. we had to be across the street. There were only 3 of us.
I only had a poster.. no stick.
