Green Party State Auditor Candidate Attended Open House Hosted by Felon Convicted of Bribery
Nothing inspires confidence in the integrity of a candidate for state auditor than holding an open house hosted by a disgraced public official who was videotaped by the FBI accepting an envelope stuffed with cash.

http://minneapolisconfidential.blogspot.com/2007/11/united-states-of-america-appellee-v.html">Dean Zimmermann was convicted in 2006 on three counts of bribery:

The video recording of this meeting (government exhibit 18) shows that, with complete fluidity of motion and without a break in conversation, Zimmermann accepted the $5,000 from Carlson, stuffed it deep into his pants pocket, and began talking about zoning and other official city business.

1. Attacks on the Green Party don't make feel better about voting for DFL
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 01:14 PM by annm4peace
Every time you post these pieces on the Green Party, it makes me think less of your credibility.

There have been races where many Green party members came out and helped progressive DFL members get into office.

I don't think it helps to attack Green party member who aren't anywhere close to defeating a DFL or swaying the vote to help in defeating a DFL.

2. "it makes me think less of your credibility." - Really?

I was at Zimmermann's trial and saw the video of him taking the cash and other nasty stuff - Zimmermann is no progressive. During his last election, he boasted that he worked with Republicans ( and he did work especially close with anti-gay, right-winger Rep. Mark Olson of Big Lake).

Incidentally, the http://www.democraticunderground.com/forums/rules.html"> rules on DU say the following:

Who We Are: Democratic Underground is an online community for Democrats and other progressives. Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office. Democratic Underground is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, and comments posted here are not representative of the Democratic Party or its candidates.

I'm sick of hearing Green Party candidates attack Democrats in ads on AM 950 and elsewhere for being corrupt when the Greens still rally around a corrupt politician who lied about what he did.

This is from http://minneapolisconfidential.blogspot.com/2006/08/notes-from-day-two-of-dean-zimmermann.html">Day 2 of Zimmermann's trial:

Carlson had a private conversation with Zimmermann outside when Carlson took a cigarette break. Carlson mentioned he had recently had a fundraiser for Norm Coleman at his house; Zimmermann chided Carlson for not inviting him. Carlson replied by saying he didn’t think Zimmermann would want to attend a Republican fundraiser. Zimmermann responded by saying, “Liberals, Greens, Democrats, Republicans…it’s all money.”

If Zimmermann is innocent, he should sign a waiver releasing the exhibits from his trial to the public - he has refused.

7. Where do Greens, and Ken Pentel get the money for all of the AM950 ads?
The AM 950 ads aren't cheap, $11,000 each I read in Shove's Progressive Calendar (hard to believe though). Anyway, if I was a Republican or a CONservative or a CONNEDservative (see definitions below) or a right-wing greed-banger, I'd contribute to the Greens - I think there's a lot more bang for the buck at this point to splitting the left than there is to running yet another batch of Republican ads.

Definitions:

CONservative (one who cons others, e.g. Koch brothers, Murdoch, Scaife, druggie Limpaugh, and others in the top 1%).

CONNEDservatives -- the goobers/haters who are conned by CONservatives to vote for tax breaks for the rich and corporations because they think it will trickle down to them. Or they think they will be rich someday --remember that poll in 2000 that found that 19% think they are in the top 1%, while another 20% think they will be in the top 1% some day?)

Remember that when some idiot snearingly calls you a liberal - just snear right back and call him a CONNEDservative and tell him he's been conned. The stock market lost 37% under Bush II (S&P 500) (its up 39% under Obama as of Friday Oct 29 close). And hes definitely not a fiscal conservative considering that Bush nearly doubled the national debt (Reagan nearly tripled it, and the Reagan-Bushes in their combined 20 years (both Bushes and Reagan) increased the national debt by more than 8-fold. And they must hate the dollar because Bush II drove it down by 22% against other currencies http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/DXY/historical

And on and on...

6. Kos: "TX GOP uses Greens in clever gambit"
"Basic Point- The Texas Republican Party bought the Texas Green Party for less than $200,000, knowing that without a Democrat running for Comptroller, Green Party nominee Ed Lindsay could more easily garner 5% ensuring Green Party access for the 2012 elections"

5. Annie Young puts the CON in "confidence"
What a bunch of scammers. If you want to support a minor party in Minnesota, throw some $$ to the Grassroots Party.
