Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2587076&mesg_id=2587076&page=

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local MN businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

3. Good Guys: Foreign Service Auto Repair in Roseville
They've been taking care the northernsoul family autos for about 3 years now and I can say is that they do fantastic work, treat their customers like family, and they run a very progressive business (i.e. treat all of their employees well & have started advertising on AM950)

5. I saw a Venison America van with a B/C bumper sticker
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 12:09 PM by Spike from MN
I spotted it on Nov 1 but didn't get time to post as I was busy with canvassing before the election.

Here's their info:

toll-free number: 800-310-2360
website: http://www.venisonamerica.com

They're based out of Hudson, WI. I'm a vegetarian so I wouldn't do business with them regardless but I'll leave out that little factoid when I call them. Looks like they changed their site because it used to state that they do both commercial and residential. It would be nice to find out which restaurants buy meat from these guys so we can boycott them also, along with the butcher shops that they work with.

Oops, forgot to add this: I was riding bike on 7th St. in St. Paul a week or so after Reagan died and went by Gregg's Auto Body. They had their flag at full staff even though they were supposed to have it at half staff for 30 days. Good for them! They are located at 581 7th St. E. in St. Paul in case anyone is interested. I have no idea what they are like and/or whether or not they are actually fundies and just forgot about the flag but I thought I would post this anyway just in case they're one of the "good" guys.

6. Interesting!
Thanks Spike!

Perhaps someone could surreptitiously take the car in for repair and draw the owner out about the election?

Any takers?

11. J&S Bean Company
Locally owned coffee shop in St Paul (Highland Park neighborhood, on Randolph, a couple of blocks east of Snelling). They sell retail as well (they roast their own coffee).

A Kerry/Edwards sign is in front of the shop, and inside they have anti-* signage.

almost exclusively to Republicans. Not a lot of money, considering he is a billionaire, but $30,000 over the last few years just to the RNC.

I posted more details in the MN forum.

17. Keeping this kicked....
The Progressive Pages are really starting to groove with all sorts of new information in multiple states!

Please help us out by providing any local businesses you can think of, good or bad. And make sure to specify which one they are when you post them!

Thanks!

19. great idea
I like to support local shops especially those in the inner city neighborhoods that I seem to "know your name". It is a good idea to support them, especially if we know they are like=minded folk.
